I listened to the interview.  He states during the interview he believes Tigers problems are mental.  When asked directly, he states, Dan: "Is this more mental or physical?" (referring to Tigers struggles) Chris:  "I think it's mental" He suggests that Tiger will not compete in the Masters because he's not ready mentally. He was respectful during the interview and offered his opinion on Tiger as an insider without substantiating anything he said about the mental struggles he claims Tiger is having. In the written article he's credited with making statements that are much more controversial than what was said during the Dan Patrick interview.  Was he misquoted, or looking for some notoriety, who knows?  But given he's still involved with the Tour you'd think he'd deny what was written if he didn't say those things.

I was directly addressing your quote that he shouldn't be going on syndicated shows and speculating or worse spewing lies.. When I listened to it I didn't find it that bad that's all, not like it was painted.. As far as his opinions I would have to default to him since he is much closer to the players and the tour than anyone here, plus the fact that he played with Tiger and had insight that we will never have.

What do you think it can possibly be? His health?

I tried to explain this a few days ago, or last week. I'm betting he is on an immunotherapy BRM regimen for arthritis. BRMs enhance the activity of the immune system thus they can be pointed or aimed to reduce inflammation. However, these are strong drugs and everyone reacts a little differently. Scary differently. When I saw Tiger chipping early this year, I noticed an indolence about his movements that seemed more motor related instead of technique related. In other words, extremities not reactive to the brain. A telltale indicator for me would be speech. He’s not giving interviews – this could mean he has some speech motor skill difficulties. We’ll have to wait and see.

?What? Tiger is not one to just give frivolous interviews. He hasn't been playing tournaments so naturally he hasn't been in front of the media speaking.

Seems like most people on this forum have been talking for weeks/months that they think Tiger's problems are mental and not physical. This is the same thing DiMarco is saying so it doesn't seem like he's going out on a real limb here. I have no idea whether this is true or not but my personal opinion has been Tiger is not and never will again be healthy (enough to win tournaments) and his mental struggles (yips, etc.) have stemmed from the lack of confidence he has in his body.

Tiger gave interviews at every tournament he's played, including the HERO and the two he played this year so far.

Why should he be giving interviews? He's not obligated to when he's taking a break from the game. I think Tiger's a bit embarrassed by everything that's happened on the golf course in recent memory and doesn't want to talk about it....and who would blame him? I wouldn't either. I'd rather him work behind the scenes in trying to get his game back rather than spending time addressing the public.

I don't recall a recent interview.

Do you want him to round up Chamblee et al for a media boondoggle in Jupiter? The dude hasn't played in two months and when he was playing earler in the year, he spoke plenty with the media. Your theory is ridiculous.

He gave an interview right after he withdrew from Farmer's. And I give him credit for that because I would have been so damn embarrassed after that I would have ducked in the car and left.

Whether you do or don't, you're wrong. He gave interviews and showed no signs of impaired speech.

Quick Googling produced these two:

Was he that bad at Farmers Insurance open? If memory serves me right, he played his first 9 at Par. Doubled the 10th and withdrew at 2 over from injury. I'm not sure it as "embarrassing" as some may think. There were able bodied players who finished worse after the first round.

Embarrassed not so much because of his overall score, but embarrassed with the fact he had to WD yet again, not to mention his chipping that day was pretty horrendous as well. That last couple holes before he WD he flubbed one and skulled two.

It does sound like to me that DiMarco has Brandel Chamblee in his ear... Brandel is an arrogant son-of-a-b$#@h who doesn't know what the hell is coming out of his mouth... with Tiger playing at the Masters, now you have to listen to that f##!$r talk about how Tiger has the yips when chipping... Tiger needs to get Lowest Score Wins, and remind himself not to leave himself another greenside shot

I'm glad you like the book, but… I think he knows that. :)

I agree with the first part. Disagree with the second. I think Little Boy Haircut is very calculated and knows exactly what he's saying at all times. He's oftentimes incorrect IMHO but he's aware of what he's saying.

Kudos for DiMarco telling it like it is. Brandel also speaks truth to the fanboys, which gets them all in a lather.

When Tiger starts spraying it all over the course and chipping it over the green next week, then his back will start hurting or his glutes will deactivate.

But where and when did he say these illuminating truths? Apparently not in the interview according to those who took the time to listen (not I, I must admit).

So Dimarco called tiger out, big deal, it's likely true, what's to be gained by Demarco to lie? What's the alternative to believe Notah on the same issue if he clarified it? Those of you in Tigers camp on this call out.......do you also believe Rory's story about his root canal when he withdrew after playing badly?

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
