Somebody named "Cody Gribble" shot 68 today. That's nice. Cole Hammer holding up nicely thus far, +2 thru 11.

I think Weiskoph is incorrect. It almost sounds like people don't want to claim any course not over in the UK as a links course. Like it tarnishes the game of golf or something of that sort.

I think it's more of a hybrid. Links courses don't have the elevation changes and the greens are more "perched" than the typical links course so we're seeing more balls landing/flying to the hole than running.

Lol typical Bubba.

In his defense, waiting on a hole for 30 minutes is pathetic golf.

I'm on Bubba's side here. That long of a wait is totally ridiculous.

The strategy to win at Pinehurst was to stay in the middle of the course, be patient, and maximize the scoring opportunities you get. Nothing I've seen from Chambers Bay so far suggests there's a surefire "safe" strategy that will lead to birdies, especially if the course dries out and/or the wind picks up through the weekend.

Well if Dustin putts like he has today the rest of the week, he has a great chance of winning this thing. The putter is the part of his game that has kept him from winning majors. Outside of that this course is suited for him. Same goes for Rory, but his putter is horrible today.

Bubba Watson is a little salty.

I'm wondering if the slowness of this round will lead to some negativity about Chambers Bay. So far, it's near universal praise and hope that the course will stand up well.

That was bubba on mic after he hit weak approach on 18 short left. He was pissed he waited a long time for that result.

Par-5 coming up for DJ. Who would have thought someone may go 63 on this course....or dare I say, the all-time record, 62? Reminds me a little of Whistling Straits when everyone said +10 would be the winning score and then the players torched the place. Not "torching" this place but going lower than anyone thought so far.

Well it was a mining pit, that they brought in a shit ton of dirt to fill and remake, so it's not technically "links land" at all, really.

In his defense, waiting on a hole for 30 minutes is pathetic golf.

He didn't wait 30 minutes. Maybe 10, and he went for it in two.

Dammit I wish we could post Vines on here. That Dustin Johnson tee shot from a few minutes ago was nuts.

I did chuckle at someone heckling Bubba as an amateur. Probably the perfect comment to get under his skin.

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
