Chamblee says move off the ball, stronger grip, clear hips, hit drivers off the deck. Nobilo imho made some good points, other players playing well recently not doing well as well as Harmon students. And pointed out ball flight higher. Longer. Getting there, needs more time. Duval, didn't get as much out of his comments in this segment, elaborated some of Chamblee's points. http://www.golfchannel.com/media/breakdown-whats-wrong-tigers-swing/?cid=golfchannel_majorshomepage_the_players_championship_mediaspotlight_position_1_video_headline The camera angles here are close, right? Right photo camera a tad to the left?

Looks to me like the camera on the left was set further forward in his stance and is square to the stance.  The one on the right is closer to his back foot and not perpendicular.

I heard some of the comments yesterday, but have been listening all week. I think Duval's doing an excellent job as a commentator. He's not afraid to hold back and fire shots at Tiger in regards to his swing and what's wrong. He's more like Brandel than Nobilo as far as criticism goes...maybe not as harsh as Brandel, but he has been pretty critical. He's not afraid to hold back on anyone, just like last week when he said if he were Jiminez, he would have said a whole lot worse to Brady's caddy then 'shutup.'

Brady's caddy is too busy under-inflating his golf balls

pretty sure it is Keegans asshat caddie that we are talking about.

I thought moving off the ball greatly and keeping the hips level (and keeping the right leg fully flexed )-- which were areas of their focus, are now no longer favored.

I think they took Como's statement that he and Tiger were attempting to get back to his 2001 swing  too literally.

Brandel said Tiger still has too many elements of his "former instructor's" swing.

I do not think Como and Tiger are changing -- I don't think Tiger intends to move off the ball much, or intends to keep the hips level, or intends to keep the flex of the right leg at address.

They also talked about the Tiger dip -- I guess commentators do not want any dip, when a little dip seems fine - part of using the ground effect.

I guess they want to see the 2001 swing, and won't be satisfied until they see it; and I don't think they will be satisfied because they will not see it from Tiger.

But they will probably see better results over time from Tiger.

I don't have nearly enough understanding of the golf swing to decipher the commentary or analyze it meaningfully.  What I see is an obvious, glaring tempo difference between Tiger on the range and Tiger on the course.  I hear he pipes it on the range and can't take it on the course.  If that is, in fact, true, then I'd like to see him just carry that tempo over to the course and see what happens.

Like @tdiii , I don't have enough understanding of the full swing to make an assessment but from what I understand, Como is a good instructor and hopefully Tiger can turn it around soon.

I missed him on the range at The Players.

Does he try to hammer it on the range the same as he does on the course?

Who here hasn't been Ranger Rick and why does it happen? It must be a mental state.

PS - Ernie Els was SWEETNESS on the range, just beautiful to watch.

I'm down to a 10 handicap. At this rate, I'll get to scratch at 90 years old!

    • It’s winter here and time hitting at my indoor place.  This year I bought and sold a few sets so I didn’t settle in on anything. For this coming season, starting now I have a choice to make.  What set would you guys use? 1.  Nike Vapor Pro irons - They are like new, hit them some last year before I had to demo other sets.  I love them, original grips, barely used so I’m almost not wanting to use them to keep their value up.  Standard LLL and standard grips. 2. Taylormade P7TW irons - Still in the box.  Got them over a year ago but had too much to hit, never used them.  Have used a set in the past and loved them.  Ended up with my own set custom fit to me -1/4”, 1 degree flat midsize grips.  These are probably not as valuable because they are still available and they are fit to me. I hate to put the Nikes away but it makes more sense to save them than the TW’s…. I dunno….
    • Day 215 (3 Dec 24) - Another very chilly day - opted to work on easy pitches in the backyard. Worked thru the irons and wedges - focused on foot position and tempo.
    • Yes. I believe in using the same ball all of the time, including chipping and putting practice. I use the orange Callaway Supersoft.  Only $25 per dozen, and sometimes on sale for $20.
    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
