Lots of wind will help Woods. .then EVERYONE will be zigzagging to the hole not just Woods. :) It will make the putting interesting.. seeing as putts are made from what looks like halfway down the fairway on some of the holes on the Old Course

If they do get wind, I also hope it will be somewhat fair. It'll always gust up and down, but it's unfortunate if the wind suddenly picks up in the middle of the day. Interested to see how Tiger does, if Spieth can keep the momentum up and how Fowler does after his win at the Scottish.

Don't know what you are talking about, THIS thread is about the British Open.

You should look for The Open Championship thread if that is what you wish to discuss.

That's just the problem... you guys don't realise that on this side of the pond we get pretty pissed off when Americans call it wrongly.. a bit like us calling the US Open the YANKEE OPEN... And it's not even The Open Championship... Just simply The Open

In case others are interested, I've enjoyed this site a few times for following the course layouts of the majors. If you have Google Earth installed, the "3D" course map works. If not, "2D" is ok. It's a snappy interface that allows you jump from hole to hole and to modify tee and pin locations and set targets to see yardages. With the 3D, you can zoom in or rotate easily to get a good feel for the lay of the land. (or the "topo" as Fox Sports used a few times at Chambers Bay).

one word about pronunciation

al-loo-min-eee-um

;-)

(In real life, I call it "The Open", unless someone is a bit too serious about it, then we take the piss out of it - cheers)

Calm down, sheesh.

If you wanna talk about the name, there are plenty of other threads devoted to JUST that. Like this one: . First one that came up in a search. Maybe there are better ones.

Cmon.. that's IRISH.. do we need to get onto Irish jokes..

An Irishman named Murphy went to his doctor after a long illness.

The doctor, after a lengthy examination, sighed and looked Murphy in the eye and said, "I've some bad news for you... you have cancer and it can't be cured. I'd give you two weeks to a month."

Murphy, shocked and saddened by the news, but of solid character, managed to compose himself and walk from the doctor's office into the waiting room.

There he saw his son who had been waiting. Murphy said, "Son, we Irish celebrate when things are good and celebrate when things don't go so well. In this case, things aren't so well. I have cancer and I've been given a short time to live. Let's head for the pub and have a few pints."

After three or four pints the two were feeling a little less somber. There were some laughs and more beers. They were eventually approached by some of Murphy's old friends who asked what the two were celebrating.

Murphy told them that the Irish celebrate the good and the bad... he went on to tell them that they were drinking to his impending end. He told his friends, "I've only got a few weeks to live as I have been diagnosed with AIDS."

The friends gave Murphy their condolences and they hoisted quite a few more and had an excellent celebration.

After his friends left, Murphy's son leaned over and whispered, "Dad, I thought you said that you were dying from cancer. You just told your friends that you were dying from AIDS!"

Murphy said, "I am dying from cancer, son, I just don't want any of them sleeping with your mother after I'm gone."

    • Day 118 - Spent some time working on the full swing. Need to film some swings for Evolvr tomorrow.
    • playing with cleveland hybrid irons have friends that use hybrids anyone using hybrid irons or hybrids would appreciate fwwdback
    • I dont know if I really have a favorite, but there are two that have stuck in my mind for a very long time. #15 at Erie Golf course during the Finals of the EDGA Matchplay. Was up early and then lost a few holes in row so the match was close again. My opponent had a short putt for birdie. I hit past hole high, but 35 feet right. I drained the putt and looked over at my opponent who was in disbelief.   #8 at Whispering Woods during another year of the EDGA Matchplay. Was playing a very cocky opponent who made sure to mention on the first tee how many times he won the club championship at this course. I hammered this 30 footer that clanked off of the pin and dropped. My opponent was disgusted and that made me weirdly happy. I went on to win 5&3 or something like that, so that entire day has stayed in my memory.
    • Day 20: Did 30 minutes after getting home from work, before kid's baseball practice. This session was piecing out the new hip move in transition, doing 2-3 rehearsals from the top, and then hitting a ball from between P5/P6. Did another 45 minutes after baseball practice and dinner. Did 30 more minutes of what I did earlier, and then about 15 minutes of full swings trying to incorporate athletically.
    • Day 296: did a stack session.
