So no doubt 20-under is in play and the PGA doesn't care about how easy this course will play. I mean you've four par-5s, all reachable, and today you've got 3 par-4s that are reachable. We may see history today if someone gets hot.

I quite like that they're still happy to make it scoreable rather than trick the course up. If it starts blowing hard later then it's more of a challenge, but good to see that they don't mind someone winning by going low.

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

Utterly ridiculous drive from Bubba as well... 398 yards and through the green

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

LOL @ Bubba' s tee shot on a 400+ yard Par 4 rolling throw the green and ending up behind the flag.

Still got soft greens, rough is only bad if you get unlucky, but most places you're lucky. We may see history today if someone gets hot.

I understood your par 5 reachable comment, but what do you mean by 3 par 4s are reachable? Aren't par 4s always reachable in 2? Edit: Ok, I take it back if bubba is getting it past the green on the drive

My god DJ

Seriously.

I forget who posted it after his round on Day 1 but I guess they were right when they said even though Dustin's was off to a fast start that he wasn't going to win..

Haha, well, I guess then others would agree with me that he just doesn't seem to be a mentally strong player

I think I've posted this somewhere before but before he won two major's this year, before he finished second in the Masters last year, before he won the his first tournament in 2013, TGC and the announcers were sweating him really hard.  It's like, how how many times do I have to hear how old he is or how he's golf's savior?  So, like @RJH999, it's made me not want to root for him.

His results this year are amazing and, as such, he's going to get a bunch of media attention and it's merited but I really don't need to see them go goo goo gah gah over him.

Did you guys watch golf before Tiger cheated on his wife?  Every minute was about Tiger and how great he was, even when he wasn't playing in the tournament.  .

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
