This I whole heartedly support!
even better... ernie, kenny, chuck and shaq as co-captains... :-D and we can have sages hang out near any green that a euro has a key putt on, so they will be distracted by whatever "fashion" he is sporting on that day... have marv in a cart taunting the euros... after a usa guy rolls in a bomb "oh... JORDAN SPIETH... with a FACIAL on gmac"... :-P this would be a lot more fun than the joyless death march that the rc seems to have become...

It won't happen but if it did I think the struggle would be he would be tough for the younger players to identify with. Unfortunately his legend is as much about bad behavior as his golf. Half the US squad are holy roller types he'd have a tough time making a connection with them.

Dave :-)

This discussion is as moot as can be.

1. Daly is known as a someone who quits and gives up.

2. He would not be respected by the players.

3. He is anything but a "team man".

I understand the desire for a "left field" pick, but that might be Tiger or Mickelson at this stage.

But... there would be dozens of reasons for not picking them.

The mentality that thinks Daly would be good is the same as the one who thinks Trump would make a good POTUS.

Renegades make complete idiots of themselves when they are given responsibility. Especially if they are egomaniacs.

Their talk appeals to the uninformed but it is just hot air.

"Back to basics"

"Back to work"

"Get our kids off the streets"

"Restore manufacturing"

"Restore respect for elders"

I am just curious as to why someone would think that John Daly has anything to offer, other than not being part of the "club". And...if that is the reason, how would it benefit anyone?

John Daly has accomplished things on and off the course. That someone like could only dream of. No need to be jealous about it.

No one is denying that. But which of these accomplishments would make hime fall into any type of consideration as Ryder Cup Captain?

One person here thought he'd make a good captain. You made your point a week ago that he wouldn't. Everyone else agrees. Why beat the dead horse?

John Daly is a complete disaster.

He just dumped 3 balls in the water on hole #7. Then he threw his club into Lake Michigan after chunking ball #4.

Perhaps he should start drinking again. Or maybe stop?

Yeah I saw that. Although it was more like 2hrs ago instead of just now.

Yep. But it's just now for me.  I can't stand the countless commercials, so I DVR'd it. Now I don't have to watch the Rory (Omega Watch? commercial) 17 times EVERY HOUR!

I do the same but I must admit, I've stopped to watch that Geico kraken commercial a few times, it's funny.

Oh Shorty you're just being a big grump now. The RC isn't the Yalta Conference for Pete's sake. It's a frigging golf tournament. Who do you approve...Mr. Rogers? MJ was the worlds largest known athlete at one time and knows about motivation and winning. Besides, some crabby old man sitting in an Archie Bunker chair whining about people and offering no ideas gets us nowhere. Chris DeMarco? Or is his hair to close to his collar for you?

I'm still laughing. This was hilarious.

I would love it if Daly was named captain. Do you guys honestly care enough about this fake dog and pony show prestige of the Cup to not want to be entertained? Especially after his antics today, I think Daly would slice things up and help the ratings. Think Happy Gilmore and bringing in ratings.

    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
