Yesterday I was doing a bit of practice down the grass range, to try and move my ball position slightly forward, and weaken my RH grip for my irons. Anyway that's not important, what is important is I hit myself in the face with a divot.........twice! :-\ How is this even possible? It made quite a slap!

Anyone else ever done this or had any other funny/ stupid injuries/ near misses?

A story I've told before.... Couple of years ago now, I hit a poor bunker shot. Climbing out of the bunker, I swung my wedge at the sole of my shoe to knock the sand from it. In my somewhat PISSED OFF state, I over-swung just a bit, and my aim wasn't quite what it should have been. I missed my shoe and caught that little hard bump thingy on the inside of my left ankle. I screamed like a little girl and went down like I'd been hit with an axe-handle. My rat-bastard buddies laughed so hard they almost wet themselves... I didn't walk right for a week.

Funny "ha-ha" funny, or funny "how the fu*k did that happen" funny? Ha-Ha funny- standing behind my Dad and he takes a mighty swing and it plinks right between his legs and hits me in the shin. Good for a round of laughs from everyone... the other one: Standing about 15 yds behind (further from hole) a friend of mine as she attempts to get out of the short rough off the edge of the fairway. Takes a mighty blast and it shoots out at what seemed about 100 mph, 12 inches off the ground... until it hit a steel pole about 10 yds ahead of her... Needless to say it rocketed back at about the same speed and height needed to crack right on my left inside ankle bone as I jumped to get out of the way... Dropped like a sack of potatoes. It went like this: "crack, plang!, crack, thud".. Fortunately, it was the 9th hole and I was able to struggle back to the bar. Couple of shots of Jack and I was ready to go... As well as a funny, helped my game injury- second shot of the day attempting to get out of a bunker. Somehow cracked a bone in my hand and played through it the rest of the day. Played some of the best golf of that year. If I did anything wrong in the swing it hurt like heck. Certainly an incentive to concentrate and do it right.

These ankle injuries sound brutal!

my dad was taking practice swings with his old driver. he asked me to stand behind him with my go pro and video him to see how his back swing looked. he took his back swing and the head of his driver flew off. in slow motion i watched it sail towards my nether regions. i was able to turn to the left a little bit and it nailed me right in the hip bone. stung like a &*(%. he laughed, my brother laughed, i cried, we all had a good time.

This is not a funny accident but I figured I would tell it anyway because there are lessons to be learned.

At my home course some years ago a man convinced his wife to learn to play golf. She took a few lessons. One day they decided to go out and play a round. They were on the first tee waiting for another group to tee off. The wife took a practice swing with the driver and because of her inexperience did not check to see that nobody was behind her. Well, the husband was behind her and got hit in the mouth with the driver. Several of his teeth were knocked out. He was bleeding all over the place. Terrible thing.

In the mid 1990's, a drunk buddy thought it would be a good idea to piss on a hornets nest while waiting for the group in front of us to clear the fairway.

You can figure out the rest of the story.

I saw a guy severely bruse his pinky finger.

after a bad shot, holding the wedge by the club head he putts the club back in his bag with anger.

his pinky got crushed between the wedge head and another club head already in the bag.

he was really hurting and finished poorly in pain. :loco:

Buzz Killington lol Story from a guy who ,knowing him ,I can believe. He s always peeing everywhere ,had to relieve himself really bad and is on the green. Takes a knee to get his ball out of the cup, lifts his shorts and goes. Disgusting but funny.

In highschool I was playing with some buddies and the guy on the tee took a practice swing, nearly hitting the guy next to him in the head with his backswing.  The guy who almost got hit yelled at him, "dude, you almost nailed me in the head!".  The guy on the tee said "I was nowhere close to you" and, to prove it, took another practice swing... you guessed it, and he nailed him in the head.  No major injuries but we still bring that up every time we see each other.

The odd is two to one that she did it on purpose for making her play golf or other marriage issues. :-P

My story ... my wife and I used to walk courses and developed a ready golf habit.   While she hits her next shot, I would walk ahead toward my ball and vice versa.    One day, I walked ahead, and stood to wait for her to hit.  I swore I was standing well outside of her normal miss zone.   Well, she mishits a 3w shot which hits me in my kidney area on the 1st bounce.  Not a rocket of a shot but I dropped to my knee in pain.  The pain lasted until the end of the round.  Was OK after couple of beers at home.  10 to 1 that the shot was intentional ... we have been married for way too many years.
