Karlsson, for me, is in the same grouping as Subban.  Wicked offensive instincts, but not as super elite as those other three or four mentioned in the defensive end.

Yep. Massively under-appreciated right now. Even his "so-so" games are pretty good. Best defensemen in the league right now is arguable. Top 3? I don't think so.

And let's not kid ourselves… Karlsson is a forward, who lines up behind the other forwards. He's not really one to play actual defense.

Yup. Like I said, he's a forward (and not a good defensive forward either) who just happens to play behind the other forwards.

I would not even put Letang in the top 5. Top 10 yeah sure. Just because he is under appreciated does not make him top 5. The Blues have 2 defense man that are under appreciated as well, but are they top 5, I don't think so. Although one is in his rookie season and is in the top 5 for defense man in + -

That's okay. Wouldn't be the first time you're wrong.

Letang is a stud. He's not top three because he's under-appreciated. He's under-appreciated because many don't consider him top 3 or 5.

But if the Rangers keep playing like they have the last month or so, even if Lundqvist comes back and stands on his head, this series will be over in 5 games (although @iacas would probably say it'll be a sweep).

He's a great offensive D-Man but doesn't play D.  44th ranked plus/minus among defensemen in the league does not reflect well on an offensive-minded D-man.  

He has the name recognition so he may get a Norris nomination but I sure hope not.  Pulling for our young guy Klingberg ahead of Letang.  Plays O and D, and our goal-tending was crap this season.
