What'd You Shoot Today?

Almost won the Medal with 84 net 64.

Only for a wild 3 wood on 7 and a duffed wedge on 9 I might have achieved my ambition.

Curses, foiled again!!

It was a lovely round started with a par and a birdie on first two holes.

Then it just rolled along in the zone.

Statistically not bad with 10 fairways and 32 putts but not sensational either - just solid golf.

Maybe next month.

83 (13 over). I've been in some seriously rough form lately and started very badly again. A combination of been on the beer the night before and lack of confidence in my game resulted in being 6 over through 3 including 9 putts. I limped to 48 out and then my game just took off. I birdied 10 and came very close to two more on 11 and 12. Dropped a shot on 14 and got it back with another birdie on 15. Then on the par 3 17 I found myself with a chip over a bunker from a steep down hill lie. I actually hit a really good shot to get within 8 feet but I missed the putt. I finished with another par for a 35 back 9. I played really well with 7 GIRs on the back 9 and it should do a lot of good for my game. But I've never been under par for 9 holes before (that's 3 times I've done it in level now) so it seems like a chance wasted.

Babe Zaharias GC in Tampa.......Seniors tournament called The Two Joes, commemorating two past golfers.

I shot a 42/44 = 86 with one Birdie for 23 points. My average was 21 points so I was +2

The winner was +10 with + 6 second.

Weather was fabulous (low 80's).

Great time was had by all..........7 of us split 13 pitchers afterwards.

83 front 43 back 40  par 72 rate 73.7 slope 137 posted 7.8

1 birdie 8 bogies 2 doubles 7 pars

Had to start shotgun cause of frost delay but started great with a gorgeous 7 iron on a par 3 from 168 to 5' and canned the putt, then I had 6 bogies and 2 doubles over the next 8 holes. Then play the next 9 at 2 over, sometimes I just shake my head at what goes on but it was an absolutely beautiful day no clouds no wind really to speak of and it probably got to low 60's. What is more worth mentioning is one of the guys in our group shot 66 with 7 birdies. He listed as a 1 hdcp and I wonder what index at the slope I play at he would be. Can't win a skin to save my life though the one birdie I had only one other person had also and it was the guy in my group (he cut a lot of people today).

79, in 9* Celsius (balmy 49*F) Dec 15 on a mucky course (not frozen, no snow). Not many east of us playing golf, unless they are quite a bit south of the 49th parallel, so we enjoyed our special status, here on the glorious west coast. Ya gotta strike ball first or it is fat-city. Putts are struck firmly (!) and balls check up without too much persuasion. It was sooper.

44 on front 9 Sat with 3 doubles. It was a little challenging with snow on the greens but amazingly I didn't hit any snow with approach shots. Didn't even face a shot where preferred lies came into play, course was mostly clear. The doubles were due to being rusty more than anything. All were the result of errant drives, one resulted in a lost ball in snow to the left of a fairway I typically don't miss. It was just poor decision making and not being tuned up to pull it off. Twice I tried to take advantage of the conditions and hit longer than usual drives, went for the green on a 333 yard par 4, not smart.

Sunday first time ever from the blue tees to shoot a 39 on the front 9 par was 36.

The back 9 shot a 40, par was 35 again this is personal best for me to card a 79 on a par 71.

The course was Meadowlark one of my favorite course's, it is not the hardest course but it is a lot of fun to play in Huntington Beach.

Weather was great had to be in the 80's so shorts and a polo, tee time was 11:45. We got put with two other guys but for the most part it was just me and my son, a lot of fun that day!

Finally broke back into the 70's again with a 78.

Based on my driving, I didn't deserve it. Any course that punished you for missing a fairway would have had me grinding to beat 90 instead of 80.  That said, I hit the recovery shots, chips, and putts that I needed to.  Really fun day.

I hadn't posted in a few days, but last week I played at the Biltmore Golf course CR/SLOPE 68.2/115.  I hit a 101, I was doing great, but shanked 3 holes which would have put me in the mid to low 90's. It is what it is!

Played nine holes at Southern Gayles over in Athens, Al. today and it wasn't pretty. Only 3 pars and 5 bogeys until the ninth hole where I finally made a birdie.

Pretty much played army golf all day. Left followed by an over-correction to the right with almost any club until the last couple of holes. Maybe another nine and I would have been better but who knows...That's golf.

Played yesterday and shot a smooth 100. 43 putts. Rough and greens getting ready for the Sony Open. Guess I'm not ready for the tour.

Santa Anita Blues. . . 44/44. 70.6/122 played by summer rules off the real blue tees, played with my kids. Had a great time. Wasn't even trying all that hard, and I felt my green side playing should have been better.

87 :poo:

Just a really,really,really bad day,

This round was over so fast, I was 10 over after the first 7 holes.

I know the course is tough 73.4 slope 139, but I just played like total crap and the worst part was I knew I was going to have a bad day after the first tee shot and that usually doesn't happen, I have not had a good round now for over a month. I think I may just go to an easier course for a few rounds just to get some of my confidence back.

    • Day 146: 5/21/24 Putting through gates for distance control and chipping practice indoors.
    • For general practice, this ratio is what I'd recommend: Making real changes in the golf swing is hard for everybody. Make sure you're practicing properly. A good topic on that subject is here: I have limited time for practice, too. I also find I enjoy doing full swing work more than anything else so that's what I always end up spending most of my time doing. Lately I have found that just doing some basic short game motions in my office is enough for me to improve my short game and that's kind of opened up a new area of practice for me because it literally takes a few minutes out of my day. Now if I can figure out how to practice my putting inside of 10' I might actually be decent at this game. Welcome to TST.
    • day 68. Technique work into the net. Lots of rehearsal and slow swings with a ball trying to understand how to achieve a flat wrist at impact. 🤷‍♂️
    • Day 20 (21 May 24) - Played 18 with a couple of friends at one of the nearby courses…a personal course best of 84.  A lot of greenside up and down scrambling including a number of bunker shots….
    • I’m sure I’m not the only one here with a family and limited practice time. That being said, I’m in the process of making what feels like major swing changes.  Primarily, my issues are a late loading backswing and passive arms that lead to a steep downswing that relies a lot on timing. I’ve been swinging with these faults for a while so making the changes has been extremely challenging.  With limited practice time, how much time should I spend implementing these changes via drills and slow intentional swing feels compared to practicing different aspects such as my drives, approaches, wedge shots and short game? I’d be fine hitting bucket after bucket just working on drills but can’t figure out if that would be the most beneficial to my game.  Thanks for the help!
