Yeah. I knew things were going well, but I refused to tally my score until I was in the car because I wanted to concetrate on my game, not my score. I surprised myself when I finally added it up.

I had the first round of the match-play tournament today at my home course. Overall, it was a decent round. I didn't do anything superb but didn't suck at anything either....here are the numbers:

Score: 38-34-72
Greens: 12
Fairways: 7
Putts: 31
Up & Downs: 2/4
Sand Saves: 2/3

If I could have done anything better it would have been putting. I missed a handful of putts I should have made. The greens are still growing in from being punched so I could blame it on that. I won't...but the round could have been a 68 or 67. Not too bad for an marginal day striking the ball.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot...I won the match 6 & 4.

Fairways and Greens.

The one thing you'd like do better is putting? C'mon Dave, you're bringin' shame to the Taylor Made Drivers

Tell me at least you were 300+ off the tee?!?!

31 putts is way too many. I've only been under 30 once this year and that was when I hit hardly any greens. I missed too many makeable putts.

Yes I missed 7 fairways, but all of my misses where in the right spots (and not all with the r7.) And yes, I had 3

very long drives. The best was on #11, a straight and barely uphill par 4...the blue tees were up a bit, but it was still playing about 450. I hit one on the screws dead straight and was just inside the 150 marker.

Fairways and Greens.

played really poor tonight, first night of leagues. Luckily I at least can blame it on my irons, had to play with a mens senior flex golden bear set as mine are all sold off and the new ones have not arrived yet. I don't think I can handle another week with those noodle shafts.

It was a handicap only night on the bright side.

I shot a fairly pedestrian 77 today, if you can have a pedestrian 77. Shot 81 yesterday. Very few outstanding shots, just solid golf. Boring golf. Fairways, greens, two putts. That kind of thing.

I wish I could be a pedestrian on that street. I shot 77 last year, but par was 60. I'm going to try and move into that neighborhood this year.

I DESTROYED the front 9 out here yesterday.

5 fairways hit, the others were in the first cut. 8 of 9 greens in regulation. 13 putts. 4-under par 31.

I was blistering tee shots, and my putter was out of control. Made birdie from 20 feet on 5, 8 feet on 7, 25 feet on 8, and the show stopping lower tier to upper tier 20 footer on 9. And this was on greens that were punched last week. The member I was playing with was in disbelief. Hell, I was in disbelief. I'll make one 20+ footer in maybe 2 rounds. But three in 9 holes, it was like magic.

That was fun!

I played my first round with my new driver (TM r7 425). I was a little quick on my first tee ball, pulled it left and made bogey from the trees. I settled down after that and hit every tee shot after that long and straight. Technology is a wonderful thing! I parred the final 8 holes, with 8 GIRs; couldn't make a putt (18 putts), but was very happy with the driver. I shot 1 over, 36.

I can't wait to play 18 holes tomorrow in my league's kickoff tournament. I'll be spending some extra time on the practice green.

But I am just a beginner, and this is only the second game where I actually kept score.

I got my first birdie ever, too, which overshadows the overall poor performance in my mind.

Shot 78 today 36-42. My Short game was TERRIBLE! I've been spending too much time on the full swing and neglecting my short game and it showed big time today.

Shot 73 (+2) today at the Kingsmill River Course where the LPGA Michelob Ultra Championship is. The course was in immaculate condition. Had 2 bogies and 2 birdies on the front for even par 36. Then followed that up with a double the par 5 15th (crap!), bogey on 16, then settled down and birdied 17 and par 18 for a 2-over 37 on that side.

Overall I'm pretty happy, I always seem to play well on the River Course for some reason. It's the same course where I shot my best round ever (72) and even that time it was the 15th hole that screwed me. I'm actually glad I pulled it back together because I was really bummed after my double today on 15.

Ah well, can't beat an 85 degree day in April. Good times.

Not good. Second round of the year. I started my first round with a birdie. Yesterday started with a tripple. I followed that with a double. After that I settled down and played a 5 hole stretch in 2 over. My lag putting was terrible. My mid range putting and in was outstanding. I only missed one inside 10 feet. Unfortunately it was wasted by a lack of accuracy on my approaches. One thing that was supprisingly good was my attitude. I didn't let the poor play bother me too much.

Played a quick 9 on Saturday at Deer Ridge Golf Club in Belleville, Ohio. A pretty cool little course if you're ever in the area. Some great driving holes, including a downhill 450-yarder with an 80-foot drop from the back tee to the fairway.

Hit the ball well off the tee, but was horrible with the irons. Last round with the 775.CBs in the bag for a while. A little too much draw bias for me right now, as nearlyeverything went left or long on approach shots. As it was, I hit 6/7 fairways and had to scramble to shoot 45. OUCH.
