Par 72 rate 73.7 slope 137

82 front 43 back 39

Played some really good approaches think I had at least 5 or 6 putts within 15' that I couldn't convert, made 3 birdies on the round but it was just another one of those days that could have been, I played real well on the back side that plays about 2 to 3 strokes harder than the front had 2 doubles on the front that destroyed that side.

Shot 87 - 43 & 44.

My best short game ever I think and only took 29 putts, which for my handicap is very good I thought!

Still only 3 GIR and 6 FIR though, Driver needs improving a lot

Was only able to fit in a short 9 Sat, par 29 shot a 33.

Nice to hit the green's again off the tee, have been working really hard to fix my short iron tee shots. Did not mind the score at all, putter was not working great, but that is okay.

Turned out to be a fantastic day weather wise yesterday so I was able to get in 18 at the home course. Shot a 97 (46-51). Not too bad off the tee for me, but was flat out horrendous on and around the greens. Seems like I was rolling every chip 15-20 feet past the cup and 3 putting from there. Recently switched putters and changed to a softer, low-spinning, ball for the colder weather and just haven't gotten the feel of it yet for those half-wedges and in. 2nd time out with the new putter and felt much better with it, but still dialing in my speeds, have a tendancy to roll it way past the hole early then end up getting timid and leaving everything short. On the plus side, was even able to get home in time to watch the Eagles hold off the Redskins!!!

Shot 91 yesterday 49-42 on Longmeadow CC (1927 Donald Ross). Best fall day in my memory banks. New England golf at it's best! Played with two old buddies Chris "Gags" Gagne, Paul Quinn (an institution at the club) and long ball hitter and Head Pro Tim Quirk. Golf game could have been better but the day could not have!

Played today at Killian Greens in the Kendall area, CR 68.9/113.  By far the best golf I have played in a very long time, shot a 90, 50-40. The last 8 holes I Par'd.  The course is horrific and would never play there again.  The fairways were more like roughs and the greens were spongy and slow with a little over growth in some holes while others had a hole on one end and some other holes that you can barely call a green!  Although it may have been my best golf in a while, I can't help but feel bad for this course, it has potential, but right now, it needs to be put out of its misery!

111. Sliced the ball all day long. One par on a par 3. Two penalty strokes, one FIR and one GIR. Conditions were crazy windy, though, so don't feel terrible about it and thought I actually did worse.

First round out for a few months. Shot 84 on a links course where golf has been played since around 1900. Nice wee solid round. This should stand me in good stead for my outing to Aberdeen next weekend. Main highlight of the day was the excellent breakfast from Tesco. Thanks Mr Tesco...... :tumble:

I shot 46 38 for an 84 on Saturday with my new driver.  The front 9 was awful, started with three straight double bogeys and was hitting weak slices off the tee.  Surprisingly a few good up and downs on the front kept me from shooting 50+.  On the 13th I finally found my driver swing and started hitting them flush and straight.  After starting with two bogeys on 10 and 11 and I parred out, barely missing two birdie putts on 13 and 17.

Eaton canyon with my son: 43 on a par 35 5 pars, 2 bogeys, a double and a 9 (oops) Hit OB, great drive just in the wrong direction. Almost killed and old lady on the 7th hole with a high drive 240 carry to carry the bump again. I'm happy that it is starting to be a habit to carry this bump now, just a little unhappy that it happened when this woman meandered out of the woods right after I hit. Shot of the day, 9 iron 100 yards clearing two trees that are about 45 yards high to land on the fringe of the last hole to put me in position for a par. My son is still in shock that I could pull that one off. Hey, this time my high flipped shots worked out. :-P Oh yeah, this guy picked up two of my 13 year old's drives because he hit past him. Lost a pokeman marked ball and a titleist pro v1x. They were a safe distance, too.

Out for 9 on Wed and Thu 43 and 45. Really didn't play that bad but bad bounces on both days got me into trouble a few times. Made more doubles in those two days than any run all year. Though I cut my finger yesterday and that made things tough. Probably will play again today.

    • Same here. Seems quite a few of my fundamentals had strayed and Erik had to get me back on track. It was kind of surprising how bad I had gotten off.
    • I would like to point out I was not complaining about hot summers;  rather, I enjoy them.  It's the coming cold cold winter I'm about to face that worries me.
    • From late 2022 until a few months ago, I barely played (maybe two dozen rounds, total, and only four rounds in 2024).  I had my first lesson in ages (Skillest, with Erik) and grip was part of it -- mine really did get into a bad spot, and I had to (and still have to) practice the new one.  It still feels odd, but that's a good thing when adjusting (otherwise I'm probably doing the previous).   I'm going back into the office for the first time since then and I'm tempted to take a small section of pipe, keep it in a desk drawer, and periodically take it out to practice my grip.
    • Great episode on GAPs. I agree 100%, this needs to be consistent. It is something you have complete control over to a high level of repeatability and precision. It is such low hanging fruit as well.  My own tendencies.  Grip - Can get too strong. I tend to not get much grip with my left pinky, and the grip can feel like it slips more into the palm. I mess around with grip size and tap wraps. I wonder if I need to get away from a big taper.  Stance - Use to be too far right. I noticed, for the first time ever, I was aiming too far left on the course last week. It was like 5-10 yards left of the target, not 20-30 yards right. Overcorrection. 🤣 It is getting better.  Posture - Way better now that I stretch and work on mobility. I could tell years ago that if I tried to keep my knees less bent, get more on the balls of my feet, I felt a stretch in my calves and hamstrings. Now, I don't, and it helps. I think people might avoid that stretch feeling because it might feel unnatural. I used to be head up as well, looking too much down the bridge of my nose. I still can catch myself doing that, especially on shorter irons. I think I have average ankle mobility. I do have to use elevated heels when I squat at the gym, or I tend to fall over forward.  I agree, if you are not practicing this then you can become lax. For about the entire first half of this season, I was just waltzing up to the ball without aiming. I still catch myself being lazing. I have to step back and actually aim. I think adding this into your practice sessions is easy. Just do it before ever rep at the range. Just make it a conscious effort on the course.  For the tee shot, the only time you can kind of use an alignment aid (other divot or maybe something is lying on the ground). I tend to use that to help me aim. I try to imagine a straight line that I align my body to.
