What'd You Shoot Today?

Recommended Posts

I just started playing in March '12.

Yesterday, I shot a 45 (twice) on a Par 3, 9-hole course. My goal is to get my score down to south of 36 (consistently) by the end of the year.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

74 on a 6431 yd./70.8/128.  My best score ever on a par 72!  And far and away the best score I've shot in probably 10 years.

Played 9 last night.  Was going along OK until the Quadruple bogey on 9 for a 44.

Shot 100 and took the wife with me for her first 18 hole course. hit the ball decently with only 2 "blow up" holes. i had two birdie opportunities (3 foot putts) and missed both, which really irked me. the good news is chipping was my weak link and i finally figured out that i have to turn my hands over when i hit a high lofted wedge. basically i was coming under the ball with the face open and was hitting ultra high spin ultra short shots, but once i figured out my hands it was good. i hit the flag on the second hop from 98 yards out, but sadly it didn't drop.

the wife shot 155 with her 10 shot limit, but she did hit one drive 200+ and had some fun when i told her to try the bubba swing. she actually picked up some good distance by loosening up and taking the club back a little further. she also dropped a 15 foot putt on 18, so all that ends well...

but it's on to the par 3 course this weekend to work on my short game. i think i'm going to to try to dig with my irons a little more, i seem to hit better when i make a little ground contact. i'd rather hit it short because i hit it fat than roll it because i topped it.

(72.5cr 137slope).......77-78 yesterday and today.   I played and putted GREAT....but nothing would drop.  It was a crazy two days because my putting touch was fantastic.  Most putts looked like they were going in.....until they didn't! ..LOL

In spite of not getting the ball in the hole, I putted great so I'm not too upset.  That's how it goes sometimes........

I played the back 9 today and shot a 47 which wasn't bad considering that I hit 0 GIR lol. My irons were not spot on but my drives and wood play was pretty good. The lady behind me had a chip in eagle on the 14th which was nice

Kind of a crappy round.  Shot 79, but it felt like 89.  Pushed every shot on the front 9.  Kept falling into my old pattern of swinging the club down the line (like golf digest says right? ) and left the face open on good swings, or flipped it to try to square it half the time.  Got a hot dog, did some swing-handle-left drills and started feeling a little more comfortable on the back.  Putted like a Model T all day.  Chipped OK but couldn't pick decent landing areas.  The funniest part of the round was halfway through I noticed my ball flight seemed to lack a decently high 3rd stage with the irons.  Trajectory was way too flat on the back half and was just going miles with tons of roll out.  I hit 7-iron from 205 and it was too much club.  I wondered what the hell was going on and thought, "maybe if you clean all the crap out of your grooves dude".  Sure enough started flighting shots well, and backing up approach shots.  Hadn't cleaned the irons in maybe 3 months.  That stuff was caked and took some serious scrub brushing.  Apparently for distance, the secret IS in the dirt, and that dirt is in your grooves.

+14 over 9.  My irons were so fat, I think I need to put them on a diet.  It was the first time I wore my contacts playing a round, and I think it will be my last.  I have never had a round with such poor iron play since I started playing.  Ever.  Normally my divot is a nice shallow scrape, about four to six inches after ball contact.  Yesterday it was a full six inches before contact, and much deeper than normal.  I hadn't worn the contacts at all in over a month, and I think I needed more time for my eyes to adjust before playing golf with them in.  Anyway, that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it!

Played well enough to win my 9-hole match 5 and 3 last night. Truth be told the guy I played was simply fighting a hook off the tee and I was getting the ball in play and made a few putts. Next week the shoe might be on the other foot because that's golf.

Shot 80 last night at Dubsdread. Not happy.

My issue is my chipping - I just cannot dial in the distance. Leaving 8-foot par putts instead of kick-ins. And I'm talking standard, 40-foot chips shots. I practice them regularly, but I am really struggling getting the distance right. Form is good, contact good...just not getting the feel.

played a course about 90 mins north of here called Tannenbaum that's 6600 yards, 72.7 rating and 142 slope.  most of the fairways are pretty narrow and lined with trees on both sides, and the greens have a lot of slope and undulations to them, so it's a pretty good challenge and a nice layout.  i really wish it were closer to where i live, i'd be a member.

anyway, played 36 holes there today.  started off a bit shaky and came in with 86 the first time, got it down to 83 the second round.

I played okay today, putted the worst I have ever. shot 42 (par 35)  with 6/7 fairways (most in 9 holes for me) 6/9 GIR (tied for best for me) then comes putting. 22 PUTTS!!!!! lol. 3 putted first 4 out of 5 holes and just could not feel it today but felt in control of my ball flight today though.

After a bad tee shot it does not mean the hole is over, it means you have an opportunity to show what you are made of!

Shot a 90 at Sugar Ridge Golf Club in southern Indiana.

Went 50 on the front 9 and 40 on the back.  Hadn't golfed for awhile, so I was hitting balls all over the place.  I had an eagle and two birdies during the round so it wasn't all bad. Eagled the 11th hole which is a ~310 yard par 4.  Hit a perfect tee shot to about 20 feet and drained the putt.
