I never post in this thread, but I shot my lifetime low round! Double bogeyed 18 for 78! The course was Prairie Lakes.

Disappointing 88. Tale of two halves: 40 on the front 9 (5 consecutive pars, couple of 6 ft birdie putts missed), 48 on back 9 with 5 consecutive doubles (4 3-putts). I forgot my prescription sunglasses - not good - and ended up wearing my wife's sunglasses on the last 3 holes for par-par-bogey. She was a passenger in the cart. I think her prescription may suit me better than mine own. Always the good excuse .....

I probably played my best 9 holes of my life today it was par 35 (the course was 9 holes I hate playing same holes twice) probably goodi only had time for nine I shot a 33 (pretty easy course) I've only been golfing for about 6 months now after a 10 year hiatus from golf so I was proud of my 2 under par... When usually I shoot 4 to 6 over on this course I was basically going to try my new R11s driver out helped the slice out but gotta get to range to find my settings for it

38 front with three 3-putts. 43 back with 3 double bogeys (11, 15, 16) including going birdie, par on 17 and 18 from the wrong fairway on both holes. A somewhat disappointing 81 considering I played 15 decent holes.

Finally!

being a real beginner (6 weeks of practice, spread over more than 2 years), I've been having a very big problem transferring my positive results from the range to the course.

Whenever I got on the course, it seemed like I was holding my clubs for the very first time in my life!

Till now, my best round was 126 (while cheating a lot).

Now, 3 days ago,  I finally found what I was doing wrong on the course (several things in fact) and managed to transfer

at least a part of my range results to the course.

Result: a round of 106    (hardly any cheating)     it should have really been 100-102, but I made some ridiculous misses due to (again) several months without practice (only 12h spread over 5 months, pfff)

next time should be better, maybe even 90!

for those who wonder what I mean by cheating, it's simply this:

sometimes (before: all the time!) I completely miss my T-shot (before: all my shots!), making my ball literally fly anywhere, except where it has to go.

Whenever this happens, I just t-off again and don't count the miss hits (same when I needed 5 strokes to get out of the bunker, happened only once).

Why do I do this?

Well, first of all, if I don't, my score would be truly ridiculous (160 or more before), but secondly, I start from the idea that, very soon, I should at least be able (on the course) to simply hit the ball more or less correctly, the way I do when I practice at the range, and make it go forward for at least 100yds (driver).

you see, on the range, 90% of my drives are rather straight (hardly any hooks or slices) and reach 180-250 yards.

So, when I hit a really complete miss (i.e. the ball makes a 90 degree left or right turn, straight from the T, and don't ask me how I did that!), I just start over again.

That way, I get a result that corresponds a little more to what I should be hitting, compared to my range results, and which I will reach soon anyway.

I'm almost at the point where I won't need to cheat anymore. Probably next time I go out there.

So wish me luck, and I'll keep you posted!

I played 9 holes yesterday afternoon with my Joe Powell persimmon driver and 3-W, and my old 1979 Wilson Staff Tour Blades. I shot a 44, which is around my handicap, with 4 3-putts, 3 for bogey and 1 for double. All of my tee shots were very playable; most in the fairway and most about where I put them with metal.

I am going to do something similar with my irons the next time I play. I replaced my old set of Titleist DCI's with a set of TaylorMade Burners at the start of last season (2011). I hit the TaylorMades with a higher trajectory (which I wanted) and, on the average, about 10 yards farther. But my accuracy is way off, I have stopped making birdies, and I have lost my confidence with an iron in my hands. I didn't necessary like the lower trajectory with the DCI's but now I am thinking that it helped me hit it closer to my targets.I'm bringing the DCI's out for a test run. I'll update when I do it.

It's been 3 weeks since I've swung a club. I got a cold, then got better (so I thought), then got sick again. Played 9 this morning and shot a 45 on a par 36. Had some bad breaks and definitley need to start getting the progress going. I'll be out tomorrow practicing around the green short game and putting.

Walked 18 this morning at the La Loma course at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. 6412 yards, par 71, rati

Front nine: 35

Back nine: 35

Total: 70

Fairways: 12/14

Greens: 10/18

Putts: 27

All in all, a pretty solid round for me. Missed a handful of makeable putts, but also made a few nice ones.

41 holes yesterday.  Wet conditions, minimal infrequent rain, slow greens, pretty much the whole course to myself.  First time I got the umbrella out (just two holes though)

1st 18 - 41, 41 for an 82.  Probably best round this year for me.  finally holding the fairway on my drives and was choosing to lay up on my drives (this is difficult, I love hitting that driver) and play smarter choices after reading a post here.  Straighter drive courtesy of a video I saw here on the forums also - so two big assists this day from things I've read here.

2nd 18 - 43, 45 for an 88.  That's more typical.  Now that I'm holding the fairways I've lost my angle on approach shots.  Distance is very consistent, now left vs right....  This game - when one thing gets better, then something else goes south.  Figured out something new on my sand shots too - I've had the ball WAY too forward in my stance  (lots of sand this round for some reason).

Snuck in on the front 9 five extra holes (1, 2, 3, 8, 9) before having to leave for a commitment  (Slow pokes when I caught up on 4, so drove around to the last two).  Bogey (3 putt - arggghhh), birdie, par, par, par (FUN 2nd shot on 9, a 5 wood from the sand that just connected and flew the full distance for that club - left me 30 feet from the green on that par 5).  That was a VERY nice way to finish but typical since I can't see how that round would have fared had I 'really' played all 18 - but fun).  Birdies have been very spare this first year back.  Maybe a couple every 3 or 4 rounds.  But it's getting better.

I love fall rates - One price, all you can play until dark.  And I find out my head covers don't have an issue when stuck in the clothes dryer.

Hey dsc123

I Like THIS format for records a LOT.  Stealing it to make one for myself.  thanks

You wouldn't have this in a generic format.......?

I can transfer to spreadsheet form and make my own...

(edit:  I see this links to a stats recording website and it's free......even better)
