I am interested in hearing how many rounds of golf everyone plays a year. I am retired and almost 67 years old. I play about 50 rounds a year. Normally I only play nine holes but occasionally I play18 when I have a cart.

Then there are other days that I just practice and experiment

Ive played just over 60 rounds this year. I practice basically every day. Id rather be on the range than play. I genuinely enjoy hitting balls. FWIW Im single with no kids.

1-4 rounds a week, almost every week. When I miss a week, I make up for it the following week. Last time I checked I was averaging about 45 holes a week.

When not playing, I am doing something in the practice area. I can usually tell after a practice session what I would have shot within a few strokes if I had actually played. As long as I am hitting a golf ball I'm happy.

Going to the Shriners' shindig tomorrow. Free tickets, food, and drink. Not going to pass that up. :-P

Started this season late thanks to old man winter lingering here in New Brunswick. But to make up for that, we had a terrific summer and autumn.  I play an average of 4 rounds per week for the 22 week season.  Some vacation boosted my total to 86 as of today.  It is quite chilly in the mornings now and the  course is heavily aerated and recovering from that.  With one more week, my partners saying adieu   I might have two more rounds.  If not, it was a great season.

Since I switched jobs about a year ago, I play at most once a week... It probably works out to twice per month.

Can only play about 6 times a month. Right now I'm at around 25 or so for the year. I'll golf till there is snow on the ground. I'll probably finish with about 30-35

I try to play twice a week, if not more with the college team and such. So it probably totals 125ish rounds a year.

Not included in that is practicing every day.

This would be great as a poll

I'll end up with somewhere around 80 rounds this year but about 1/2 of them are 9 hole rounds.

I average around 50-60 rounds a year.  If it didn't rain so much in Georgia that number would be much higher.

I had 18 recorded 18-hole rounds, plus some nines here and there. Had trouble with gaps:

  • Only one round between March 13 (last of 3 rounds in Myrtle Beach!) and May 5.
  • No golf June 23 to July 22 (helped my mom move).
  • Season ended abruptly on Sept. 26 (school unusually busy - it's our centennial).

Usually about 35 - 40. Hopefully the weather keeps courses open until mid-November and we get a few more in.

Curious to see who has the highest TST post/round played ratio.

At 10 rounds and lotsa posts, I might be on that leaderboard. A dubious distinction!

Some fifteen years ago I played, over a three year period, almost 1000 total rounds. I was really into golf then and every day I played I also hit the driving range and the practice area. Today I play over 100 rounds a year but no longer play those days where the temps are under 40* or in heavy rain and wind. At 73 I have found that I don't enjoy the game as much when I play in those conditions.

I'm 69 (soon to be 70), and retired like you, but play 5 or 6 times a week. This is my first full year as a retiree, and I should reach 250 rounds in 2015...when I played this morning, that was round #209 so far this year. I walk with a push cart 90% of the time, and always play 18.

I must admit, though, that playing this much golf tends to lose its appeal a bit from time to time. Sunday is the day I just about always don't play, but I find myself looking for the occasional excuse to skip another day every once in a while. My wife will be retiring in about 6 months, and that might cause me to cut back a little as well.

    • They sure do. 158 with an 8 iron is on the high end for me
    • Went back to controlling my knees. That part was getting a bit sloppy when I worked on my backswing. Right hip didn't slide or gain internal rotation. I would just rotate back and around and the left knee would be in a bad spot. Really focusing now on keeping my left knee very stable and straighter in the backswing. I can't go back to the old pattern of overturning the hips. I was returning to my old pattern to time my downswing. Turn forever.  Left knee controls both knees and hips, acting as an anchor. Feel like it straightens a bit.   Hinge sooner and faster. Not in a way that sends the hands out and flips the club over. I still noticed when the hands get to A2.5, the hands would want to flip over and flatten the club out a ton.  Still trying to figure out how to roll the forearms a bit open and not just roll the club inside a ton.  Figure out the timing to get the hands down. Still getting a bit of right elbow collapsing in the downswing because the arms are too high when I turn. Everything is happening sooner now. If the hips are controlled, the backswing is shortened. Because it is shortened I don't know when to get the hands down and I just turn because the downswing is a go.  Very slow (50%) swings are decent.
    • Distances look fine, no?
    • Day 207-12 Wider backswing and arm reconnecting in downswing. Did a much better job with proper wrist movements through downswing today.
