Tagging @tonygonz1, @Mark B, @Coronagolfman, and @Hacker James to this thread after seeing them in another thread about Southern California.

We'd love to have any or all of you guys at our next outing, which appears like it's going to be March 6th, perhaps somewhere out in the Coachella Valley.

@tristanhilton85, another option to consider would be the course across the 10 from Tukwet (I forget the name) - I believe you mentioned in the past that you liked that course.  If we're coming all the way to the valley, then I would say let's also consider Shadow Ridge. :)

Coachella Valley is a bit far away for me... unless I can get the wife to schedule a 4 or 5 day trip to Palm Springs around that time.  If we are firm on the date I'll start working on it.

Thanks GD....keep me in mind please. I really do not compete much any more, but the comradery would be nice. I haven't a boat load of cash however, so my golfing outings are a bit sparse. Also, I do not have an official handicap; however I do log scores on my home made spreadsheet so that I know what my handicap would be.

Our outings are very laid-back and NON-competitive, and a handicap is not needed.  We do compete foursome against foursome if we have enough people to make it interesting, and @mvmac might get some golf company to kick in a cool prize here or there for the winning team, but its mostly just about having fun and meeting new people.

sounds good. I should be available depending on the exact location/time. Not sure where Coachella Valley is, but can look it up once I get the address.

just looked it up. Very familiar area, just could not connect the name. I used to ride all over the place in my motorcycle (CA 371 through Anza). Cut across from Borrego Springs to Palm Desert.  Us old bikers, didn't pay much attention to destination, but more or less just "point and shoot" utrilizing the old "Fukawi" mantra.  As in "Where da fuk a wi"

Bumping after a few weeks of inactivity.  Have we figured out any specifics other than March 6 being the date?

Oy, I totally forgot about this. Good chance I'm still available to play though.

I'm doing pretty good, man.  Finally feeling (mostly) healthy, and have been playing a lot of golf after skipping out on most of last year.  Thanks for asking!  I might look to join you guys the next time you get something organized.

Stay tuned.  Also, keep practicing so you'll be ready for Newport Cup 2017!!!

I had a chance to check out that thread, very cool.  Glad to see everybody followed through to make that happen.

I've been practicing a lot lately and starting to see some results (I shot sub-80 for the first time in 2+ years recently).  Maybe by 2017 I'll be in the single digits, finally :-).

    • Range day working with the 6 & 7 irons.  As we have grass and it’s been beat to death, I hit off short tee pegs.  Solid session with the irons - even if there were a few wonky hosel rockets with the 7 when I did not stay in the process.  Finished the session with some work with the driver, focused on setup and tempo.
    • Day 195: did a stack session.
    • Day 27 - 40 minutes of chipping work; range was closed this morning. Worked on lofted chips with 58, bump-and-run with 7 and 9 irons.
    • Congratulations.   It sounds like a ton of work but I'm sure it is rewarding.
    • Well now the ordeal is over, and I'm back home.  If anyone is interested in doing one of these workshops, I recommend it, but its a lot of information in a short time frame.  Its been compared to taking a drink of water from a fire hose.  A lot of the "enjoyment" comes from the personalities of the instructors.  In my previous workshops, I've had one instructor who was good, and the other was exceptional.  This time, both instructors were exceptional, as was the "coordinator", who also served as instructor (his first time) for a couple of segments.  You have almost certainly heard each of the instructors on telecasts as the "rules voice", and have quite possibly seen coordinator-Jay on the USGA rules of Golf videos on Youtube and the USGA website.   A nice surprise, I got my exam results in an email earlier today.  I guess it helps that our class was held maybe 300 yards from the USGA satellite office in Pinehurst.  I'm really pleased, I improved on my past performances, and can claim the "Expert" title again.
