To OP, it looks reasonable given that most of what you bought are the essential equipment to play golf and enjoy life.   But if you do it every year (I know at least one member in the forum does), then, it is excessive.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

The answer to my question is right there when I scroll through the threads.  Without getting in to details, financially I am quite secure with my home paid for and a decent retirement plan in place. I guess I'm not an extravagant spender and it strikes me as odd to feel the need to purchase a 3rd brand new golf glove or 8 dozen Tileist ProV's. To me that's seems like a mid-life crisis thing.  I keep telling myself that surely my desire to keep making golf equipment purchases is coming to an end?

Another interesting point made is that all this new equipment won't at all improve my game.  This concerns me. Yikes.

Eh, if it makes you happy and doesn't put you in the poor house, more power to ya.  And compared to the club ho-ing I've seen on other internet forums, 1 complete club set is nothing.

The cliche mid-life crisis response is to buy a red sports car and/or have an affair with a younger woman/divorce wife marry younger woman.

On that basis, I'd say you're doing juuusst fine.

Mid-life crisis? No. Looking for a game in the wrong places just because you can? Seems like it.

Too bad they didn't sell new golf swings.

I did spend some money wisely and hooked up with a reputable Pro. Paid $480 Canadian for 6- one hour lessons. He has me focussing on a "high-to-low" swing that compresses the ball first as opposed to sweeping the ball like a slapper.

Other than the putter, you have only bought one of each type of thing.  It's not like you kept buying drivers or something, so all you've done, like @newtogolf already mentioned, is built yourself a nice bag.

Now if you come back in six months and have all new everything again, then we may have to sit you down.

Better a mid-life crisis than an end-of-life crisis I always say.

Do you know anyone who ever went to the grave wishing they'd play less golf?  Of course not.

My only critique would be that you may not have gotten a putter that fits you, when you could have done so for less cash.  Other than that, you're fine by me.

I don't know if it's just that I'm at that stage in my life where I have lots of excess $$$$$, or if it's that I'm having a true mid-life crisis.  Whatever it is, it's Golf related!

Starting last fall I went on a Golf spending spree that looks to be finally coming to an end - even my wife is starting to ask what's up.

My question to you fellow golfers is:  Am I just rolling in the cash/money now, and don't know what to do with it - or is it that I'm having a true mid-life crisis?

Since late last fall, here's the truthful facts of what I've bought:

1) TaylorMade R15 Driver and 3 Wood

2)  Ping I25 5- Wood

3)  Ping G 30 Irons UW to 4 Iron

4) Scotty Cameron 2014 Masters Notchback 2 Putter.  And another Scotty Cameron Titleist Golo S5

5) Ping Tour Bag & a Super Light Weight "Ogio" Carry Bag

6) Couple of new gloves - a Titleist and a Footjoy Stasof - I feel like I need another back-up

7) 2 new pairs of Adidas Golf shoes, both Adipur - Brown and White.  Another pair of black Oakley Carbon 2

8)  A total of 9 dozen Titleist Pro V 's and pro v -x's

If you have any funds left, I might suggest this as a nice addition to your clubs.... and build the nice room he has to go along with it.

you my good man are still a rookie...this is not even a full first step to golf issues much less a midlife...not even close!! the last 10 years or so since I joined my club between dues, equipment and golf only (no spouse) trips is about 24k a year and I am still waiting for a midlife crisis!!

you have a green light to book at least 3 more golf trips this year and possibly consider joining a club!!

Driver- Callaway Razor somthing or other
3W- Taylor Made R11S
3H Rocketballz
4I-PW- MP-59

Putter- Rife

Compared to many hobbies like collecting cars or antique guns, you did not spend much at all.  What you did spend is consumptive spending that depreciates rapidly. There is a lot of great used golf equipment out there now. Last year's model or even stuff from a few years ago is far superior to the old latest and greatest.

Not even close to a mid-life crisis.

Six or seven years ago I was having some real issues with my irons so within three months I bought a new set of TaylorMade R7 CBG MAX irons then Ping Anser then TaylorMade R9. I still have the R9's in my closet but the R7 and Anser are long gone. Right now I have Mizuno MX-23 and MP-25; TaylorMade R9, Titlieist AP2 714, and Ping G25 in my closet. Along with the irons I have so many drivers, woods and putters I cant' even name them all.

I must buy at least 3 or 4 new drivers and at least 2 set of 3 and 5 woods at year.

The only thing I have not bought in the last few years are new putters.

Currently I probably have at least 7 or 8 pairs of golf shoes.

Three full sets of Gortex rain gear.

What you bought is far from a mid-life crisis ,,,,,,,,,, it is normal for most golfers.

Well, thanks then. I feel better now that I know I'm not suffering from a real midlife crisis.

Meanwhile, I'll hop into the sack and snuggle soundly with my brand new Ping G30 Irons, Taylormade Driver,  2-Scotty Cameron Putters,  4 pairs of new golf shoes, 3 new golf gloves, 8 dozen Titleist balls, and the knowledge that I'm getting $83 an hour lessons from a Pro.  :hmm:
