I got the towels last week. Everyone else will be getting theirs this week. Here's how they look fresh out of (or in one case, still in) the packaging:

2016-03-02 15.56.41.jpg

2016-03-02 15.57.25.jpg

2016-03-02 15.58.10.jpg

Initial impressions are…

  • The microfiber side is nice.
  • These towels are good sized.
  • There's no grommet or sewn slit to attach the towel to your bag.
  • The towel is wonderfully free of overly large logos and whatnot.
  • The material on the colored side is nice and appears to be durable, but you don't want to use it to wipe dirt from your clubs.

Cropping or uploading after you edit on a computer works well.

I'll have to pics up eventually, but in the meantime, I'll give a couple of first impressions:

  • I like the look of the towel - it matches my G30 headcover quite well.  The checkerboard pattern is a little loud, but it's only a towel, so people aren't doing double takes.
  • The patterned side feels more like a quilt than a towel.
  • The back side has that waffled "microfiber" texture to it, just like my current towel.  I like that.  I'll probably be using that side to clean the clubs most often.
  • I really like that my current towel has a slit in the middle so I can "hook" it onto my alignment sticks.  This towel does not have that, so I will have to drape it around the sticks and be more conscious not to drop it.
  • Being that the one side of the towel is white, I'm going to have to actually wash it occasionally, or it's gonna get ugly.

Just got mine today. Nice size.... colorful... but it would really nice if they put a grommet in the center with a clip, so that it could be attached on my bag. A nice feature would have been nice to have a roughed up area at one end to clean clubs. There is only one option to carrying it..... they put a little card in the bag with three golfers and three caddies. Only the caddies are carrying the towels, so I guess these are more for the tour players when they use caddies (shrug). So, I am heading out tomorrow morning for a round and we'll see how it goes. It has been really wet and sloppy out here.... so this towel is going to get a real workout. No caddies for me... I walk and carry my clubs, so hope this towel behaves itself. :~(  But... its a towel, eh. I guess I was thinking that it may have a few options or extras, considering the list price.

Just got back from a round of golf today using the towel. Today was VERY windy. I used the towel as my only fixture to wipe anything off.... but this way of carrying it (across the clubs didn't work for carrying your clubs on a windy day. It fell off a few times and ended up tying it on to a club with the a knot to keep it from blowing away. That is... until I needed to use that club. Then ran it through the handle, which seemed to work better, but needed to keep readjusting to keep it from falling away.

The quilt side of the towel has very little use (other than aesthetics), though I used to wipe my face and clear my sinuses (ahem). The other side (more like a dish towel) of the towel worked fine for cleaning the mud off the clubs and shafts. However, it would be nice if 1/2 of this side had a more textured material to clean out the grooves of the club.

The last item to change on this towel is putting a couple grommets at each end AND the middle... and supply a small carabineer to connect it to the bag.

Just some thoughts while they are fresh in my mind.

I took a couple pics but it doesn't seem that they will embed after reviewing the How To directions. So, I'll need to look into that and post back later.

Regards

Started with this and then found that it is best to go with this option on the windy days.....

At this point... the aesthetic have quite a bit higher rating than the functionality. There could be a lot more options built in with a little re-engineering. As it stands, I am wondering how it might out do an off-the-shelf hand towel from WallMart. There has to be value-add here. I am thinking the company spent more time focused on the art and marketing department, rather than the engineering side of golf needs. But, just my take on it. I plan on giving it go at the range where it can get a bit mucky in the turf where I frequent.

No bag clip? Someone's going to running down the fairway a couple times to retrieve it.

My grandmother has a quilt that looks a lot like the towel in the ad...

FWIW, you can pick up grommets and grommet tool at the hardware store and put a hole in to to clip to your bag. I've done this with other towels where the clip broke or I wanted to move the clip spot.

True, but then that would take this from a $50 towel to $60 towel. Just looking at this from a purely business perspective, the company needs to look at a few directives here:

1. Figure out how to make them cheaper so they can drop the price. I am hard pressed to understanding that the consumer would place that value on the pretty quilt.

2. Add more options that separate it from other towel, like a number stratigically placed grommets, a couple small carabiners and a portion of the material being  porous enough to clean the grooves in your clubs. Other than the pretty quilt.... What separates this from a dish rag I can buy at  WalMart?

i know I may be a bit picky here, but I'm looking at this from a business, marketing and sales venture. I am assuming that is part of the reason for the review process. But I may be wrong.

I got my towel a couple of days ago, and although I haven’t yet gotten out on the course with it, I can at least do an initial review.  I actually like the looks of it, but I did not get the flashiest one they had.  Mine suits my more conservative style.   You can see it here hanging on my new bag.

I do feel that they need to add a way to hook it onto a golf bag for those of us who don’t have caddies and don’t carry it everywhere with us.  When on a riding cart it would be easy to lose it if just looped around a club or through the handle.  I did an “engineered solution” for it that suits me (see photo below), but for the price it shouldn’t be necessary.

I did test clean a couple of balls and it works as it should for that.  It cleans the clubface nicely as well.  I didn’t worry too much about the lack of a rougher surface for club grooves, as I always have a brush on my bag for that anyway.  For some players, that could be an issue.

In conclusion, I like the size and style of the towel, and it works fine for its intended use.
