Backswing transition, and backswing transition while maintaining steady head.

Doing the takeaway and kind of bouncing my arms at the top as slowly as I can to reduce the amount of "stoppage". This helps me slow down my tempo in a natural way. I do this three times per swing with the first 10-20 warmup swings.

Exaggerate the feel of wrapping my arms around my body while at the correct inclination and maintaining that inclination while keeping my head steady.

Doing these as slowly as I can, then letting it go naturally when I make my actual swings. Never feeling rushed at any point in time. Slow and steady.

More of the same using a mirror (actually a large window in my living room as it's still dark outside and I can see my reflection in it).

Hit the driving range with my five year old son for a half hour.  Then we spent another half hour at the practice green playing chip-tag.  What is chip-tag do you ask?  He chips it on and putts once.  Then I chip on and putt once trying to hit his ball.  If I can hit his ball I get a point.  If not, he gets a point. It's good up-and-down practice for me.  (btw, He creamed me in our little game. lol)  :-D

Just a little work today. My neck and lower back are sore for some unknown reason. Getting old stinks.

Got in an hour at the practice green. Worked on "up and down" drills inside 25 yards, along with some putts.

In the early season, I will try out the tip from p. 96, LSW: "Remember that there are a lot of great golfers who use one or two clubs for all their shots around the green..."

On my short game last season, I was hot and cold. One round I'd have 30 putts, and the next round 36. The larger # usually comes from inaccurate chips and pitches (distance) on the day.

Today, I used the 54° for short pitches and the 8i for chips. (I also chip with PW 46° if the greenside areas are semi-shaggy). I started getting the range quickly with just a couple of clubs.

I left the 50° and the 58° in the bag.

In a four ball drill, I twice sank all four putts after my chips or pitches. Halfway through, I had three rounds where I missed all the putts, mostly left. It turned out I was tensing up my back shoulder. I relaxed and moved the ball forward an inch, and started doing better.

When I get to go out and play in a couple of weeks, I'll see how the two-club plan works out.  (My wife is having outpatient surgery Thursday, so I'll be tied up for a few days as she recovers).

Focus, connect and follow through!

Went to the range after work. Focused on my backswing checkpoints for the entire bucket. Went to the practice green and worked on pitch shots with my 58* for 45 minutes. I focused on keeping the right arm moving through the shot.

What is This A1-A2-A3-A4 stuff I honestly don't know what you guys are talking about?

4/3/15:

Worked on 5-15 footers today for a bit. Also did shoulder sticks with driveway sticks drill trying to feel I'm keeping my shoulder inclination the same as it is at address.

Tried out the MP-52 on the range. I can hit the 6i, but still fall short of the 5i and 4i. Got a few good shots with all the clubs, but longer than 6i is still giving me low flights most of the time. I hit a Ping i20 4i and the distance was pretty decent, but the flight was still too low.

Going to have to work on my swing with these clubs for a while. A long long while. . .

Hit balls at the range for about 40 minutes - working on my driver set up and turning my hips. Also worked on my putting with some long putting (<25 feet) and ~6 foot putting drills.

Getting on a 15 hour plane ride. Won't be able to post until 18 hours. I plan to practice my back swing transition on the plane, as I am doing now.

Too late to win a badge, it's already the 4th! Just gonna post in here ocassionally to keep motivated. Don't be surprised if I miss multiple days, I travel a lot and I'm lazy. :-P

Mostly working on 2 putting drills while waiting for it to finally warm up. This morning I spent 10 minutes putting from 5', 7' and 9'. Start at 5', make three in a row and move to 7', make another three and move to 9'. If you miss more than one at any distance you have to move up a spot. Basically the same as the drill in LSW. Second drill is the gate drill, just set down two coins just a hair wider than a golf ball and putt back and forth between them. Distance is dictated by whatever I leave from the last putt. I like this one because it's just continual back and forth. By putting it longer or shorter I give myself some variety on shot lengths. Really helps groove a solid stroke because the gate is pretty tight.

I've been doing these drills 4-5 times a week plus some pseudo mirror work with an iPad and a wedge. That's about all I can manage until the ranges open up

Distance control has been pretty killer so far.  Looking forward to hitting the course!

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Spent 20 minutes this morning chipping with 7-iron and short pitches with a 52 gap wedge.  Alternating between the two clubs from similar distances trying to get a feel for how hard to hit each.  Seems like I tend to blow past the hole with my 7-iron and leave my short gap wedge pitches short.

Indoors, with ball, chip shots into a pillow, concentrating on solid contact.

Indoors, slow motion swings, concentrating on various points, such as: 1) proper working of right elbow 2) proper "stretched" top of backswing position, 3) starting lower body transition while club is still moving backwards, 4) proper leg, hip, and shoulder action on downswing.

A few swings with an analyzer to try to groove tempo and try to make plane consistent.

Spent 20-30 minutes on mirror work before my workout. Focused with slow swings on, centered hip turn to A4, hips forward to A5 with the shaft flattening and right elbow in front. Then from A6 to A9 continuing the pivot of my hips. No swings more than 60%.

    • Agree. The next omission needs to be that ridiculous team concept. Nobody cares about a team when they really don’t represent anything except being a group of diminished morality and/or washed up pro golfers. Or wait, we’ve also got total nobodies who’ve accomplished nothing who now get a participation trophy! Doesn’t that sound invigorating!
    • LIV moving to 72 holes is a subtle admission that 54 holes was nothing but a joke all along.
    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
