USGA would be really setting themselves up if they award the penalty. This has happened at LEAST twice this tournament (ball movement on green).... if they can't attribute that to the freakishly fast green CONDITIONS... then they're braindead.

I think the club head might have moved the ball a bit on that tee shot. I'm wondering if a rules official is going to look into that as well

Omg with the ball moving. DJ's 3 lb. putter grazing the ground caused the Earth to shift enough for the ball to move? Give me a break. The damn greens are like putting on marble. A 2 mph. breeze could move the ball.

So what's gonna happen if he writes the score on #5 he thinks he got and turns it in, then they review it and decide thats not right...he can get DQ'd like Peter Hanson did?

For Lowry's last putt, the sound was delayed for the ball falling in. I think there is a sound effect guy making that noise is some sound booth!

I think he waits until they tell him the decision before he signs.  If they change their mind, it changes the score, but isn't a DQ.

Oh exactly. Or how about all the times they have played out of the deep rough? GUARANTEE balls have moved a tiny bit in there and nobody knew the wiser.

No. He won't sign it until there's a proper ruling.

Would be nice, yes.  This is why team sports have the "once the next play has happened" type rules.  I understand why golf doesn't, but situations like this make it mildly annoying.

What does the rule say actually? He did have his putter grounded beside the ball and didnt he do a practice stroke beside ball? They may say his putter movement beside ball could have caused it.It wasnt an address issue.

They're hoping desperately that he wins by at least 2 strokes.  That would absolve them of any perceived responsibility for making a decision that affected the outcome of the championship!
