Eagle Creek is pretty close to there, or are you looking for something different since you've played it before?

Another different option (again, can't speak to current conditions) is Royal St Cloud in Kissimmee. Β Links style course, fairly priced, but again, this time of year as a popular snowbird course, pace of play can be a challenge...

I played at St Cloud a few years ago. Three Nines if i recall. I liked the layout alot, mostly because it didn't have any freaking houses on it. Its not really a true links style track, though. You have to play the ball up alot. I didn't like Eagle Creek at all.Β

Thanks Groucho, I'll check it out. I'm surprised you didn't like Eagle Creek, I've played there several times and have always enjoyed it.

I really liked Eagle Creek as well, in fact I went back and played it again after our TST round.

I've played Royal St. Cloud a couple of times as well, I always enjoyed it and my Dad likes it as well. Β

Its a really nice course, just has some annoying holes. But I think i just hate 18. Thats such a dumb and contrived hole. Pete Dye inspired nonsense.Β Especially after 17, which i remember being a really strong hole.Β

Think I actually parred 18. I did like the way it came back in to the clubhouse, was a beautiful layout.Β

17 was a good par 3, fairly long over some water. Β

Low handicappers tend to not like that hole. Β A relatively short par-5 with a huge amount of risk associated with going for the green in 2. Β Easy 5 if you play it in 3 shots. Β It can get messy if you don't though...

Overall I like the course. Β The par-3's in particular are very strong.

I think @kpaulhusΒ did just that, went for it in 2 and hit it in the water.

I agree. I liked all the par 3s on that course. I dont like blind tee shots and i think thats another reason that hole annoys me.Β

My 5 iron got up high in the wind and I had to hit a cut to shorten it some and ended up landing pin high in the water right. Still a cool hole and for sure risk/reward. I enjoyed the course. On 17 I hit my ball in a front right bunker and holed out for birdie. Needed a birdie on 18 to shoot 79 and ended up with a bogey for an 81. Not bad IMO for the first time seeing a course.Β

It was a fun course for me, 78 the first time I played it with the birdie on 18 (I birdied all of the Par 5's on the back)Β and then a 76 the second time I saw it along with playing back a set of tees. Β

Edit: But I forgot my wonderful display of putting that first day, NOT, 6 three putts (ugh)

I would rather not discuss scoring on that course from the easy tees. Freaking +18 with quadruple on 18. I started out good with a 3-putt bogey on 1 (that's not the good part) followed by 4 pars. Then I had a triple, par, bogey, double. The back had a few doubles and the quad. I can't wait to go back and get some revenge on that place. Good news.Β my medical issue is improving. Bad news. It's going to be cold and blustery this weekend.Β
