They are all actually on my phone though. I have never uploaded them anywhere so I have no URL to paste.

You will need to upload them to YouTube or Vimeo.

Maybe I will pick up darts or something.

Just to be on the safe side....give me fair warning if you decide to throw darts....

Yea i know what you mean. I feel like i've hard to work twice as hard as my teammates to get to their level (now i'm better) even though they'd never play golf. It's all about practice, not just going and hitting the ball, but diligent and worth while practice. Also you've just gotta keep a cool head and diagnose your on course problems. Like this morning I hit the range before playing a new course and I couldn't hit a single ball. By the time i teed off I still couldnt hit, but over 2 or 3 holes I took it easy and focused on my fundamental swing; broke my personal best on 18 holes! All because I kept a cool head and steady tempo and reacted accordingly. If you have the time i'd look for this book or just buy it here https://www.amazon.com/Golf-Mental-Game-Thomas-Dorsel/dp/1581826494 some of the advice he gave really helps. When I started to really follow it I found my scores lowering drastically and quicker than ever before.

I've always been a proponent of playing short par 3 courses when things completely unravel.

Find a course with a bunch of 100 yard holes and take half your clubs.  The game becomes one of hitting nice easy shots and is more relaxed than facing lengthy par 4's where a bad tee shot just compounds the pressure on the next shots.

Also, play double par like Rainmaker suggested.  We do that when I play with our sons and it keeps play moving and eliminates being 5 or 10 strokes over on a hole.  After all once you get past double par there really isn't any incentive and it becomes an exercise in futility.  At that point no one cares anymore.  Better to move on to the next hole in a better frame of mind.

In golf, golfers sometimes create a "dark hole" that they can't get themselves out of.  They hit a bad shot and then mentally tank it.  What has to happen is that you have to play the game for the fun of it and the game will come to you.  Turn everything into a positive.  For example, you took a 13 on a hole.  I bet that there was a hole you did well.  Focus on that.  Focus on the shot that keeps you coming back.  When you are on the driving range, be there with a purpose and maybe that purpose is to get better with your "go to iron" that you can use to get a bogey or double bogey from a tough place on the course.  Practice putting so that you can putt up close and two putt.  Those scores will fall.  When you get to a point you are comfortable, go to a professional for some help.

Darrell Butler

Coach (me) to player, "Hey, what percentage of putts left short never go in?"  Player, "Coach, 100% of putts left short never go in."  Coach (me), "Exactly."  Player, "Coach what percentage of putts that go long never go in."  LOL!

I think that it was probably ridiculous of me to attempt to completely rebuild my swing within only two weeks and expect that I would be able to play with it virtually at all. In hindsight, it was probably a disaster waiting to happen.

The few times I had the temerity to try substantial changes to my swing, the next month has been an ordeal. Hopefully the changes you've made are the right ones. If you are confident in them, gut it out.

The few times I've made attempted swing changes, I spent more time on the range than the course. Once the score starts going downhill, I tend to revert back to what works.

TryingtoPlay - We have a few openings on our dart team.... Interested???

Kidding aside, don't give up, keep plugging.  You can't change your swing that fast and expect it to work.  Be patient, work on changes a little at a time and keep your head up.  Practice, practice and practice!

Heck, I didn't even hit a golf course my first year.  Spent all spring and summer at the local facility trying to learn a swing, how to chip, putt and get out of a bunker.  I am glad I did it the way I did as I would have probably got so frustrated out on the course that golf wouldn't be as enjoyable as it is now, to me.

Some come on this forum to help with their golfing development. Some come on here to measure their development against others. Most come on here to share their frustrations. One day you are a mamster of the course, and convinced you have sussed the game, the next day you look like a one handed spastic who has drunk one to many. It's golf I am affraid

In my bag (Motocaddy Light)

Taylormade Burner driver, Taylormade 4 wood, 3 x Ping Karsten Hybrids, 6-SW Ping Karsten irons with reg flex graphite shafts. Odyssey putter, 20 Bridgestone e6 balls, 2 water balls for the 5th hole, loads of tees, 2 golf gloves, a couple of hand warmers, cleaning towel, 5 ball markers, 2 pitch mark repairers, some aspirin, 3 hats, set of waterproofs, an umbrella, a pair of gaiters, 2 pairs of glasses. Christ, it's amazing I can pick the bloody thing up !!

The good news is that I think that I am back to working on more of what I should be working on again. I had a very productive practice on Monday and I think that I understand much better with my normal swing what it is that I need to improve.

    • Sad tale.  Both the A's and Raiders.  IMO, cities shouldn't be building stadiums for MLB/NFL teams.  But that's the world we live in.   DAY 3:  30-min range session with irons and wedges.  Working on follow thru -- no hooks! 🙂
    • Backswing: Body is responsible for taking the club around. Arms are responsible for making the club go up.  Downswing: The process is reversed. Weight Forward So, your arms need to do stuff. Set up to the ball. Do not raise your arms at all. Rotate your body as you would in the swing. You will notice your hands stay down near your right hip. So, how does the club get up? Your arms raise it up. You can't take your arms out of the swing. What you are describing might be more of a feel, but it also might not be correct.
    • It depends on what you mean by "while the core remains still" I wouldn't consider his core "remaining still" here, DJ's abs, belly button, and belt buckle have rotated almost 90 degrees by the top of the backswing. Those components of his core then have to rotate/uncoil on the downswing. Far from remaining still IMO.
    • It’s going to change but your basic setup feel should be about the same. Your body kind of adjusts to length and lie angle of the club. You’ll want to pay attention more to ball position as you change clubs more than how bent over you are. I understood what you meant from what your wrote.
    • Oh I probably was thinking the wrong thing or the wrong way when I typed the golf swing was more of a body swing (in my mind).  The in my mind part probably should have said in my opinion or based on what I have read.  Just meant the body needs to be involved more than the hands and swinging the arms while the core remains still.
