People have speculated that it is possible with talks of buying Taylormade or what's left of Nike.

Hopefully he's smarter than that. Golf equipment is a terrible business.

Wondering if there will be golf clubs or golf balls in his line.

He would be a fool to try and compete with clubs and balls!
But Is there a market for TW apparel as well?
Would one not think he would have to play and rank well to continue to remain relevant to those who would purchase his stuff?

In my Grom:

Driver-Taylormade 10.5 Woods- Taylomade 3 wood, taylormade 4 Hybrid
Irons- Callaway Big Berthas 5i - GW Wedges- Titles Volkey  Putter- Odyssey protype #9
Ball- Bridgestone E6
All grips Golf Pride

There was the rumor that he was in the the market to buy Taylor Made. I don't think he would start a new line of clubs/balls, but I could see him buying TM and incorporating into TGR. ???

Tiger already has a name. I don't think he has to prove anything else on the course to be successful in the golf biz. His name is already up there with Jack and Arnie.

But after each passing generation, his name is just a name. And his legacy is simply history.

Look at Walter Hagen as an example. Used to have clubs, now he is just a name on shirts & umbrellas!

True, but that won't be for many years. To your point, if he comes back and surpasses Jack in majors won, his legacy will be even greater. As far as his products, I'm not someone who buys a product because of endorsements or ownership, but there are many who do.

Jack Nicklaus has his bear logo, Palmer, the multicolored umbrella. Woods has this? Can this be any more star chamber corporate clinical and cold? What are those? Pine trees? Claws? Yeah, I read the description, I see the W, but that's what people are going to ask.

When I saw that "TGR", the first thing I thought was "Teton Gravity Research" which is a skiing outfit.

the logo, much like Tiger is Cold, can be viewed 2 ways (much like his personal/professional life) and utter baffling in its awfulness!!

It wouldn't surprise me if he came out with a boutique set of clubs or if he does invest in Taylormade, have them make a "Tiger" line of equipment. There still are people who will buy all his apparel at double cost because of his logo and mimic his bag setup just because of the name.

It's a few possible images in one. A 'negative' W (possibly with very abstract upside-down T's), Tiger stripes, claws, or as Tiger said 'trees, I've been known to hit into a few'. Visually, it's a little dull, but I bet it's pretty inexpensive to reproduce / print.

When I saw the three letter acronym, I thought of a stock ticker label. Wonder if he's got a long-term goal to go public? Don't know how that could work with the charitable organization side of things, though.

I'm surprised that he didn't at least go with his signature Sunday red for the color in the logo.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
