As part of the new collective bargaining agreement, the All-Star game will no long decide home field advantage for the World Series.

I have to say that I like it like that.  I understand the idea of making the game "mean something",  I have always felt that the All-Star game is an exhibition and that is it's meaning.  You will never have a team naturally collect the greatest players on a roster; they simply could never afford to, so it's fun to see them all play together for one game.  That it doesn't count or mean anything should just make it more fun.

If I had my druthers, the All-Star game would be more like MTV's old Rock-And-Jock softball games than a serious baseball game.

To me, the MLB All-star game would become a joke like the NBA All-star game.

That's great, but more importantly they are going to use the best record for home field, instead of their silly old way of just alternating.

Good move.

Yay!

Plus, now a tie will be totally fine. :-)

In which case?

Personally, I think it should be a joke.  No team with a valid shot at the post-season is going to want to see their star get hurt playing the All-Star game, even if it would give them home-field advantage.

I have no problem with that decision. The all star game still has meaning. If not to the fans, then to some of the players. I am sure some players have contracts where getting picked for an all star probably puts more money in their pockets.

There is always concerns, if nothing more than from the media, about the stars getting hurt during the All-Star game and not being able to help the team make the playoffs.   When Caberra won the triple crown, there was so much talk in Detroit about him not playing because nobody wanted to see the Tigers miss the playoffs.

Then you sometimes see a token player make the play-offs.   Brandon Inge in 2009 didn't hit one home run in the home run derby.   Heck, he wasn't even a starter for the Tigers most of the time.  The All-Star game is a joke unless the competition means something.

    • Day 7: got out my chipping net and worked on chipping in the living room for a solid 15 minutes. Worked on mostly low shots, but mixed in a couple of high shots as well.
    • Day 228 4-4 More hip/chest turn and wrist arching. Working on hinging wrist a bit later. Foam balls.
    • Day 27 (4 Apr 26) - Worked with grandson on basic pitches/punches in the back yard with varied irons/wedges.  Wrapped up the day rolling some putts on the 30’ carpet I can set up in the yard to give varied terrain - and this carpet rolls almost too easy. A great way to figure a read and know that pace has to be near perfect to get in the hole.
    • A bit of a struggle today.  Just some thoughts/musings.  For the backswing, it is like I am never going to be moving on from this. I don't know if I can ever get to the point where the backswing isn't like over 1.5 seconds in duration. Which is probably not ideal. I would like to get to the point where I can just fling the arms back and up.  I have to feel like my hands are going to hit my right thigh from P1 to P2. If not then they like to move 2-5 inches towards the ball from P1 to P2. Then it's just bad from there. This feeling is my hands not gaining much depth, just maintaining depth from set up. From the DTL view, the hands head towards the camera.  While I am doing that, hinge the crap out of the club with my wrist only. Hinge in a way that the club is pointing at the camera at P2.  From P2, lift the hands straight up. I can get here, and still roll the club inside and get it way too shallow.  With the downswing. There isn't much here. I still can't get the flow of this or the sequencing of this to line up. It doesn't help that hinging from P1 to P2 just throws off my entire timing as well.
    • Day 550 - 2026-04-04 Practiced in the sim at a club for awhile. Did a SW ladder and practiced for awhile with my 7I.
