Practiced swings out back tonight waiting on the rocket launch. The launch was scrubbed, but I got some practice in. Keeping he left arm straight(er) seems to help with rotating my hip back for some reason.

Spoiler

I had a college professor who went up in the shuttle. I scheduled a vendor visit to coincide with the launch. I even stayed in Cocoa Beach. The launch was scrubbed.  I couldn't even send him a message because they flew the crew back to Houston. His launch held the record for the most scrubs too with 7!

had a longer session this morning working in my basement, mirror for backswing and wall drill for hip turn, wasn't hitting the ball real crisp when I hit some into the net, took a little break and came back and just tried to feel everything loosen up and starting hitting ball much more solid.  I tend to tighten up when I'm thinking about mechanics.

Played 9 today.  Worked on implementing the range work into the game...felt and played pretty good but still had a few loose shots.  Temp was mid-low 50's and no warmup so I'm not too concerned.

Want to play more 9-hole rounds like this where i work on taking things from the range to the course.

Fairways and Greens.

1/20: Getting the house ready for a birthday party, not much time to practice. Putted for 10 minutes in the hallway, and did about two minutes of the wall drill.

1/21: First practice with Torc swing trainer (up near handle). Reviewed videos on usage. 15 minutes on feel of downswing from correct A4, flat left wrist to A6, stopping briefly and around through impact. Trainer does let you feel the club a bit more, likely just because it's different and therefore new. Focused on good swing plane after shallowing, all the way from top through impact. The new (and less steep) swing plane is feeling more natural, and paid dividends during my recent round- more solid contact so I advanced ball more consistently.

Played 18. First nine, swing felt better. However, think I am still casting.

After the round, went to chipping area and did 20 minutes of practice with best score chipping game. Each chip counts for as many putts as it would take to finish the hole--if it goes in, 0. If it is one-putt, 1.

I get five shots plus an extra ball.

Try to get the lowest score possible. Today it was six--four one points + a two putt.

Worked on keepinig weight on front foot, clipping ball with nice high flight.

30 min workout on hip turn, 3/4 backswing, and keeping head back starting downswing. It's feeling better. Trying to feel a little looser as I'm working on these, I noticed I was really tightening up.

1/2 hour lesson in morning, then afterward spent hour trying to put into practice what pro wanted me to work on, which was to try and keep arms closer to body on downswing as was stretching and had arms straight out. Some fair shots, probably around 7/10 which is improvement no end. Need to understand why on earth I cannot hit a ball when pro is teaching, trying so hard to not cock up that I am cocking up. Definitely need to concentrate more on shot and not who is around.

1/21 - light swings in the backyard. Back was a little tight, so I don't want to push it.

    • Not really, no. I don't know the history, what you've worked on, what you've tried and moved away from… etc.
    • Day 9: 2/16/25 Putting through 50 mm gates from 11”. Swing pressure shift drills.
    • Definitely not a favorite… For some reason my wife and I started watching Cobra Kai. I know the original was pretty cheesy, but the inability of these people to get over shit that happened like 30 years ago is astounding. And these kids would be arrested, but they don’t even seem to get suspended from school. Would Danny not notice that Johnny’s son looks like Johnny? Etc.? Why would a completely different dojo that has the same name be “banned”? Oy. Not sure we’ll make it to season 2.
    • Day 139 - 2025-02-16 Weather led to a rescheduled GEARS lesson, so I used the time to work on my swing for 60 minutes or so. All downswing stuff. Some swings at 93 MPH. Most around 75-80.
    • A question I have is…this swing (fade, pull cut) does not  feel as good and easily repeatable as the draw swing we were working on previously.  I’m kinda in a weird spot where I do not know which direction will be the best to pursue. I like seeing a penetrating 5 yard draw but also like the thought of the fade not getting away from me as much.    Any thoughts on that?
