Nice looking shoes. I'm intrigued with the no laces. I've always had a thing about not tying tennis shoes. Have a couple of pair of Solomon shoes I wear with jeans with similar laceless setup. Only problem I have is when I tighten them they tend to get extra tight at top. I'll have to try these on.

FootJoy made these a few years ago. The BOA gear thing was on the heel where I pointed at in the video. They worked really well. I think putting the "gear thing" on the tongue makes a bit more sense, though.

These are definitely not my kind of shoe (I'm a spikeless zero-drop kinda guy), but I do like the BOA closure system.

The color you got is my least favorite...I really like the silver/green/white colorway.

I wonder if the "nubs", especially near the toe, ever really engage the turf.

I have a pair of Adidas with the BOA system and I love them. I have this quirk where I hate my shoe laces loosening up so I went back to spikes just for the BOA. I never tried the FJ ones but it would seem weird to have the gear on my heel.

Earlier this week you should have received a special delivery from us here at adidas Golf, our new Powerband BOA Boost footwear. In additional to all of the adidas technologies incorporated into the shoe, like BOOST cushioning, the footwear’s new natural fit features a slightly rounded toe shape and wider forefoot. From the onset of development and design, our team worked closely with the team at Boa Technology Inc. to seamlessly incorporate a new L6 Boa closure system, unique to this shoe only, to maximize its performance and personalization. The collaboration is evident from the moment you see the media kit and is only enhanced once you try the shoe on for yourself.

We are extremely excited about this new shoe, which is now available, and hope you are too.

I like the wider toe box. It's definitely noticeable over the PUMA shoes I'm currently reviewing.

I don't like the heel drop, which is likely > 8mm and may be >= 12.

One advantage to the BOA thing being on the tongue instead of the back like some of the FootJoy shoes I've had is that the clicker is less likely to get gunked up with mud, dirt, and debris. It's less likely to get wet. It's less likely to be accidentally unclicked if you step on a branch or to catch on the edge of a step.

Very interesting. I never had any, but I always really liked the BOA FootJoys. I'm curious about these ones now.

I loved the idea of the BOA until I tried it on with the Tour 360 Boosts I was shopping for this year at the PGA Tour Superstore. I wound up paying a couple dollars more to not get it. I loved the idea in principle because my previous Adidas Tour 360 ATVs wouldn't stay laced for an entire round, but I didn't like that it concentrated more pressure at the top of the foot versus in the toes. I suddenly missed the ability to adjust that more granularly with laces. It also felt flimsier than I would have liked, though I doubt it actually was.

I'm over the moon happy with my Tour 360 Boosts I got last month for $100. I wound up getting my girlfriend a pair in purple for $85 as an early Valentine's Day gift ahead of our golf trip, and she loves them too.

I'm curious if this is meant to be Adidas's 2017 flagship shoe. The promotional packaging presentation makes it seem that way, but only six spikes versus the usual 10 is how Adidas tends to differentiate their lower-end golf models. Also, the price point is lower than last year's flagship by $20 ($50 if you apples-to-apples against the BOA version of the Tour 360 Boosts).

I know it's probably mental, but this would be a deal breaker for me.

Stupid question, but does the BOA system "loosen up" over time? If the laces break, can you easily replace them?

They don't break. They're incredibly strong steel or something.

The BOA latch thingy doesn't loosen, no.

Since Adidas launched the Boost tech into their Golf shoes I have become a massive Adidas shoe and apparel snob.  The fit and feel is just spot on for me.  I'm super intrigued by the BOA offering.  May wait to see if the prices come down over the coming months but these are for sure on my radar.

BOA's website says that they have a lifetime guarantee, which I assume carries through to a BOA bought on an Adidas shoe. I remember reading that the actual cable is rated for something like 5000 cycles, which is probably longer than the shoe itself will last.

Even if the "laces" did start to stretch, it would be over time. They wouldn't stretch from start of a round to the end. Maybe in a year you'd just have to turn the dial one more click, which you'd never notice.

I really like the looks of these shoes, but I have read where the material on the inside of the heel has been breaking down in Adidas shoes in a short period of time. Anyone had this issue with Adidas?

Can't say that I have. I wore my last pair of Adidas for years and I played all last season with an older model of PowerBand with no issues.

@iacas do you like the BOA better than normal laces?  Or is it more of a, not any better, not any worse, kind of thing?

Maybe a little better. I kinda wish you could adjust more granularly at different parts like toward the toes.
