3/2: An hour at the range today. Picker was down so I couldn't hit balls. Nice short-game area, though, so I alternated between a few different holes and practiced pitching with my 56o and chipping with my pitching wedge and 9-iron.

3/2: Difficult day health-wise but reviewed last few video lessons. Did 5 min of centered hip turn in mirror, with hip action for downswing through to tall finish

3/03 - priority piece work: minimizing lateral weight shift in backswing. Wall drill (5 sets of 20); felt awkward first set, I was too far away from the wall. After that, it became more comfortable. I can definitely tell the difference already. I'll try to get in another 100 reps by the end of the day.

3/2: 20 mins. chipping/short-pitch revamp work; walked 4 holes; 5 mins working on turn/balance/shift; 20 mins conditioning drills w/Orange Whip.

Should I be updating this page the night of my work instead of morning after?  I usually go device free after work.  -BW

It all depends on what you want from the thread. If it's strictly for your benefit to keep yourself motivated and maybe check out how others practice, use the thread how it works for you.

If you are motivated o earn the badge for the challenge, then there are rules in the first page. Being golf rules people, those are clear and the way you're doing it won't technically earn the badge. But we won't run you out or anything.  You just won't get the badge.

As a reference I've been a regular here for a bunch of months and have earned a badge half the time for one reason or another. I like to try earning the badge myself but not the end of the world if I goof up :)

4/3/17 - Made it to the range but annoyingly forgot the camera battery - did some slow motion work on the backswing pieces mixed in with more full swing stuff to get a feel for where my misses are. Playing on Sunday so need to get an idea of what my game is actually doing!

Made a bunch of practice swings "bumping the mat" while waiting on hold for the stupid AT&T mobile support person to fix my voicemail after it was rendered useless yesterday when I switched to their unlimited data plan that was less than the 15GB plan that I was on but this lady re-provisioned my voicemail and deleted the hopefully unimportant voicemail from someone at our Greensboro facility when all she really needed to do was reset my access code.

15 min. That's all I think took to get through my routine-Sklz, 7-iron, driver and felt great. Lag and release through the hitting zone almost every time. Felt coil and uncoil.

Hopefully, tomorrow is the same.

unfortunately, traveling Sunday thru Friday so it's back to hotel room exercises ;(

Gonna see if I can narrow the hitting zone with a tee or chalk line

5 minutes working on my takeaway and address position. I'll get out to the range tomorrow to see how the feels translate to hitting a ball. I'm pumped.

    • Day 189 2-20 Really focused on rotating the forearms today with wrist arched. Did some single arm swings as well.
    • In March of 1978 I got to play Pebble Beach GC. Played it from the back tees, since I knew I'd probably never play it again. Oops, shot 102.  Three weeks later, I played Torrey Pines - South, again from the back tees (maybe 6,700 yds in those days). Shot an 87, and missed a birdie putt on the lakeside No. 18 green. In 2021, I played TPC Deere Run in the Quad Cities area. This is site of the John Deere Classic. It was early October and the course was undergoing renovation, so I got to play the front nine twice for $110, lunch included. The course was great and the driving range was unbelievable. Hint: you need to pay attention to the wind drafts before you try to challenge the cross bunkers! BTW, Deere Run is a public course. Norwood Hills Country Club is site of the Champions tour event, the Ascension Charity Classic, now the Stifel Charity Classic. This classic layout has 36 holes. This summer I hope to play the West course where the Champions event is held; Missouri Golf Association is sponsoring an amateur event there.  I have played the shorter East course three times - it's quirky but quite fun. Also: Circa 2000 I played il Picciolo, a course at the base of Mount Etna in Sicily. The volcano was spewing ash that week. The course frequently hosts European pro events. Lots of elevation change and gently rippling fairways. Left a 7i shot 10 yards short of green on one par 5. Turns out the hole had a 12-foot high alpine flagstick, and I was not as close to the green as I thought I was (bad perspective).
    • Just the Plantation course at Kapalua. Not like I didn't know it, but it was a visceral reminder of how ridiculously good the tour pros are. That course is f***ing *hard* playing it from ~6500 yards. From the tips!? Then if there's wind?!
    • How far back are we talking? Like I've played Inwood on Long Island and that held a US Open back in the day (nearly 100 years ago now). Courses that have held big events recently: Shinnecock Hills Merion Bethpage Black Winged Foot West Kiawah Island Ocean TPC Sawgrass Walton Heath Old Royal St Georges Royal Liverpool The Old Course Turnberry Muirfield Kingsbarns Royal Porthcawl Phoenix Country Club A few others that have held European Tour events relatively recently, and then these ones that held big events a long time ago: Royal Cinque Ports Prestwick Princes Inwood
    • I get he thinks he can compete, but it's time to enjoy retirement. Get involved in golf in other ways. Go design hundreds of new courses. Expand the game. Maybe tee it up at the Majors from time to time. Yea, it is over.
