According to reddit, $1,200 rental/day. Would be interesting to see how they install it. America. What a country!

Why?

I mean, why is it in a bounce house?

Its not made to be a bounce house, inflatables are the new tent rentals. Much easier to set up, and many more uses.

I feel like that whole setup has to pay for itself within two weeks of rentals.

Maybe, but at $1200 per day the pool of potential customers is mighty small... or am I just naive in how people waste -- I mean spend -- money?

Must be loud as heck setting them up, guessing air compressors are being used.

At $1200 a day how on earth can it pay for itself in two weeks? That would be close to 17K for the two weeks. Assuming four people at $25 each for three hours to play a round of golf. Running it 12 hours a day  would return only 400 bucks a day. Even if you rented it for only two hours per round you still come up way short. You would have to run it 24/7 at 2hr/$100 per foursome and still just break even. No way would your neighbors allow that even if you could get that much interest from people in your area.

It rents for $1200 a day.  I could see it for a block party, a high-end, adult birthday bash, company picnic/outing, etc...  Pretty cool.

I'm working on a golf outing, and if there was one of those in the area to rent I would totally look into bringing it in one day.

and certainly that is a no metal spikes facility (likely no soft spikes either)

I help a buddy out with his party rental stuff now and then. They do use a air compressor, but they re not as loud as, say a leaf blower, and we will toss a couple of quilted blankets on them if a neighbor complains. He does not have one of those, but is going to look into the cost or see if he can rent it from the vendor.

I could see a lot of different companies renting this stuff out for events. Golf expos, tournaments, and corporate outings would all seem like prime events for an item like this.

I don't picture many individuals renting this, but I imagine you could probably triple your investment in a year depending on how many contacts you are able to make (or already had, if you previously were in the inflatable rentals business).

I realize it rents for $1200 a week but only if you are the business owning it. Thus how much does it cost to own one and then rent it out. I was under the impression  this was about one of us renting it and thus my response to a rental paying for itself in two weeks. If you actually owned it paying for it in two weeks would involve all the costs involved and none were mentioned. Without that info how does one ascertain the ROI?

Not much in terms of operating cost other than the purchase price itself and the delivery/set-up/tear-down time.  Someone who knows more about simulators can probably give a better guesimate of the actual cost of the whole thing, but just to use some round numbers, if the whole thing costs $36,000, you gross the investment amount in 30 rental days.  If you can rent it 2 days per week, you're looking at 15 weeks.  Of course that's gross, but it gives us some idea.

Well just a few things to consider. Hiring people to do the moving, setup, teardown and the associated cost of their salary, benefits etc. Then you need a place to store it and the cost of insurance for the simulator and for anything that may happen during its use. What are you going to use to tote it all over town to peoples places or parks etc. There are so many other hidden charges as well. It is not just the income from renting it there are plenty of expenses that you need to find out before even considering going into business.

That's an easy 2 man, do it yourself gig.  Store it in the garage and keep it in a small trailer.  Not much more than that. Sure there are some expenses, but not a ton, and that's why I specified gross revenues, not net.

Regardless, I'm not looking at going into business.  I was just responding to a prior post.

As I read the OP, I believe you got it! He was talking about the renter, not the rentee! And it's $1200 per day! A 2 week rental would gross you $16,800. True, more info is needed. But I can't imagine the system costing much more than that.

I realize it is per day as I stated in my initial response somehow I got off a little and said per week. But even if they could rent it out every day, which I doubt very much. It is more of a week end thing in my estimation. You would have to live in a large city with lots of golf courses and golfers who like to party. I think you would have to do some serious looking into the amount of interest in this venture by locals. And as I stated unless you are going to do all the work by yourself or have a partner there will be expenses related to this project. Insurance is mandatory, you have to have a business license you will be playing business taxes depending where you start the business plus many other things that are not apparent unless you have started a business before. If you do not have the money to pay cash for the equipment you need a loan and now you have monthly payments as well as interest on the loan. This could be a can of worms, not an easy cash cow.
