One of my favorite events and probably my second favorite course all season.  I'm planning time on Sunday to sit down and watch the final round.  I still remember fondly the Tiger/Harrington duel many years ago.  I remember also how happy I was to find out Tiger and Anthony Kim were to be paired in a final round there one year... and then saw the tee time, remembered how they played the first 54 holes, and my hopes were raised and dashed almost simultaneously.

What I don't understand is why it's held the week before the PGA Championship. Jack Nicklaus prepared for a major by showing up and playing the week before it started. The $9.75 million purse for the WGC Bridgestone Invitational is too big to pass up but on the other hand, practicing and playing the host course enough to become comfortable with it for a major and place high in it is important as well.

It's a product of the congested schedule since the intro of the fed ex cup. I believe there used to be 2 weeks between Firestone and the PGA.

One of the many reasons the PGA would be better off moving to May IMO.

That 8 iron he stuck on 16. Damn.

Hmm, i noticed Jason Day has a Lexus logo on the sleeve... I thought it was Nikes contract requirement that its staff players have zero other logos or sponsors on their clothing?  Just the swoosh.

Yeah, Lexus logo is coming off as soon as Nike starts making cars... ha ha..

I believe Nike has that as a default but exceptions can be made.  Tiger, for example, had an exception made for AT&T when the latter sponsored the Tiger Woods July 4 Invitational (or whatever it ended up being called).   Anthony Kim, IIRC, also got an exception for RBC.

Which makes it more interesting because the whole reason Day wasn't in the RBC events this year was that he's no longer sponsored by them, as a result of his switch to Nike lol.

Well, Hole 16 is pretty much an automatic 300+ drive for a good majority of the PGA tour players.
