I would like to do a workout routine during the week, that will help me during Saturday play. What do you players do?

I walk my 2 hunting dogs 2 miles every morning at 5:30 and when we get home do 5 minutes of planks.

Try and walk and play 9 holes after work (that's starting to get difficult unless I get home by 5:30).  On the weekend try and play 18 Sat and Sun.

In my bag: Lazrus everything with R flex

I hike quite a bit to keep my legs in decent working order. I also ride a bike a few miles each week.

Golf specific, in addition to playing/ practicing, I am the course 2-3 times a week. Sometimes 4. I also make it appoint to swing a club everyday. Most of the time using my Kallassy club.

I try to walk a good length at lunchtimes (also stops me eating), and my physio has given me some on-all-fours stretches to do every other day to keep my back flexible. Have seen videos of some good golfers use an exercise machine where they pull a cord from the ground to their side up and across their chests which looks like it might be beneficial. I have been trying to get a mid week game and a driving range session in too, but its hard with kids and British weather.

I used to do the routine in Joey D's Fix Your Body, Fix Your Swing.

I stretch first thing every morning.  I'll be 60 years old in a couple of months, I consider stretching to be the most important fitness activity that I do.

I walk my two retrievers 2 miles every morning, and 1 mile every evening.

I do one of these every morning alternating... light weight lifting (push-ups, dumbbell (db) squats, lunges, bent-over db row, sissy squats, db press, db curls, db triceps extensions, an ab exercise), or a Joey D workout, or 25 minutes on a rowing machine, or 25 minutes on an exercise bike, or play/walk an executive 18 golf course.

On the days I don't play golf I either practice with foam balls and a net in the back yard, or I go to the range.

This is the Joey D workouts: https://smile.amazon.com/Fix-Your-Body-Swing-Revolutionary/dp/0312605625/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504205126&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=Joey+D+golf+workout+book

the last 6 months ive basically been doing 15-20 minute hiit workouts every single day. sometimes with weights, but most often just bodyweight. sometimes with a power yoga mixed into it once a week. not really golf specific by any means, but definitely good for core and lower body strength/endurance

Why not shoot for overall fitness since u seem to have the time to workout during the week.

You use most every muscle for golf.  Core muscles especially.  I don't know what your current level of fitness or health is but how about Crossfit classes or look for a gym that does sports specific training?

Where u play once a week it's going to be tough to know if it's fitness or just a day when everything clicks that results in a good round.

I lift weights 5 days a week, primarily 3 sets working in the 4-6 rep range with a focus on deadlifts, squats, military press, and the bench press.

I was lifting at a gym 2-3 times a week but have cut back to once a week. I've been concentrating on getting my firewood cut, split and stacked for winter. I should be back to at least two workouts per week very soon.

If I go three times a week, I'll do lower body on one of those three days. Otherwise, it's upper body without any focus on golf specific exercises. That might change.

I ride my road bike Sat and Sun mornings Sat for 2 hours and 75 mins on Sun doing Criterium intervals.

As you can see......I enjoy working out daily and playing golf.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
