Day 10

went to the range. Worked on my two swing pieces. Things working out well. I’m able to do them slowly at will now. I also worked on my driver. I was slicing it a bit. I was figuring that out.

I also worked on distance wedges. Focusing on backswing length and what distance they went.

Day 44:

45 minutes of putting practice at lunch today. Did the 4-8-12 drill. Near perfect from 4 feet, was way about 50% from 8 feet, but struggled from 12 feet early on. Did complete the last two stations by nailing the 12 footers on the first try. Did some speed control putting drills after that but man that was bad.

Day 15.  Spent an hour at the putting green, both on grip work (see today's conversation in my "my swing" thread) and hitting putts of various lengths.  I also got video which I'll post tomorrow.

Day 167

Spent some time on the putting green with my Grand Daughter this morning. We were practicing 3 footers, for a while. At one point she made 6 in a row.

After putting, we did some chipping practice. I showed her the Runyon chip/putt stroke. After a dozen, or so, she started hitting some decent shots.

We finished up with a friendly  little contest from 5' off the green, to a practice pin some 20' away.

She bought the ice creame on the way home......lol

DAY 207    Spent 2 hours on the putting green!!  Began by hitting 40 balls off the Pelz Putting Tutor to get feedback on starting the putt on line.  Did a drill requiring you to get 10/10 balls in a three foot circle around the hole from 30, 40, 50 and 60 feet.  Then set up a tee at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions around the hole at 9 feet.  Hit 10 balls from each to track the percentage made.  I made 50%, the goal is 60%.   So still work to do.  Finished with the Dottie Pepper Drill where you have to make 3 in a row from 3, 5, and 7 feet.  If you miss, you have to restart from 3 feet.

Day 16.  Hit the practice facility this morning with mom.  Pitches from 30 yards and 20 yards, chips from near the green, putts from the fringe, and some short putts.  We shared a bucket;  I spent my share working on the same drills from the latest evolvr lesson.

I also stopped at the PGA Superstore later and hit a few fairway woods there, my own 4-wood and one on a simulator.  I think the numbers were off because it told me I was hitting their 4-wood (Tour Edge Exotics CB-2) 235 yards, which is well past where I hit my 4-wood.  If it were true, I'd have bought it.  But I brought in my own 4-wood and got similar numbers, so I think it was just the simulator.  Didn't know where else to say this and it was part of my practice trip and involved hitting a golf ball.

5 mins on new indoor putting matt working on posture. The new posture brings a better strike so getting used to slightly gentler (and non accelerating ☺️) blows.

Day 168. Getting a little tired of the double posts. Not sure why it's happening, other than something wrong with my phone. Wish I knew how to get rid of the dupicate post. It only seems to happen in this thead.

Just some simple putting, and chipping practice today.

Now I see the duplicate, and today's has been merged....lol

Done deal.

DAY 208    Happy Father's Day to all who read my post and have family.  Hope you have a fantastic day.

Another day of Rise and Grind.  Spent 2 1/2 hours in the short game area working on technique and then targets with my wedges.  Working on shots of 15-30 yards, in belief that as I get better and better with the shorter swing, not only will it help my short game scoring it will also seep over into my longer clubs.   Then spent 30 minutes on the putting green hitting balls of my Pelz Putting Tutor to train myself to improve my skills in starting the putt on line.

And it is only Noon!!!

Day 17.  http://www.gamegolf.com/player/Shindig/round/2230836

It's ... some things I worked on went well and plenty of things didn't.  One GIR but some good short game shots.  And... quite a good number of bad ones.  Plenty of work to do!

Day 1, June 17 - had to take a few days off to rest my groin pull. Hit balls into a net for about 30 minutes.  Focused on smooth backswing and transition and finishing my swing.

    • Day 9 (10 May 24) - Played 18 with a good friend and one of his coworkers.  Was not a solid scoring round, but lots of opportunites for course management. Had a blast as we truly "got our money's worth" as my friend jokingly said.  Had some solid shots and finished the round with a solid birdie on 17 (the only really good hole of the day).
    • I always wonder when people say they "tried" a golf swing out. I thought I had a topic on it, but when I searched DuckDuckGo for "trying" a golf swing or method limited to this site… "trying"+a+golf+swing+or+method+site:thesandtrap.com at DuckDuckGo DuckDuckGo. Privacy, Simplified. This very topic was the first search result. 🤣
    • I think you can get away with even a 5I or a hybrid or something. I don't think you need to hit 7I off the tee.
    • Yeah this is good to remember. Handicap is ranking where a high handicap player is most likely to shoot a worse score than a scratch golfer. Though you'd think a super narrow shorter hole would be relatively high handicap (as in close to #1 or #2 because a scratch golfer can hit 4i-SW and have a good look at birdie frequently whereas a high handicap is gonna be in jail or OB a ton? I guess it being short disqualifies it? I have long noticed that as a long hitting mid-handicapper I get an advantage playing in tournaments against players where I get 3-4 strokes because those are usually the par 5s that I can reach or nearly reach in 2.
    • Crunching the numbers, if you play the hole.. 100..1000 times, the best average of the hole you are going to get is with the Driver/Hybrid or playing it as a Par 5 hitting 3 wedges.  Assumptions of your game: Driver 240 yards (100 yards dispersion) Hybrid 200 (80) 6 iron 160 (60) 9 iron 120 (40) P wedge 100 (30)  Other assumptions from the hole: - When you hit it towards the threes 15% of your shots are going to bounce back to the fairway but 40 yards shorter, and 15% are going to remain in the threes but punchable out. The other 70% is going to be lost or OB so you need to Re-Tee (penalty + distance).   You are going to hit less balls OB if you hit 7 iron off the tee but you are still gong to hit balls OB! and you are going to play 100% of your 2nd shots from 150 yards where you can still can hit a couple more OB! The average score for each club (assuming you go for the green in the second shot) is: Driver: 5.4   Hybrid: 5.5 6 Iron: 5.9 9 Iron: 6.0 Given that 5.4 is the best average you can get, is not necessary to go for the green in two. So you can hit 3 shots to reach it, maybe P (100), P(100) and wedge (90) and be around bogey or double but with this strategy you are going to be almost 100% in play all the time to avoid a roller-coaster of scores in that hole. Scratch players can hit 150 off the tee with a 9 iron and keep the ball in play almost 100% of the time so they can play the hole as a par 4 and be around par in average.
