It's a good way for her to go, closer to what she did when she was an am. I also think more of a "one-piece" type of move is easier to repeat in competition, better for speed and controlling the face, unless it's something the player instinctively does, like DJ. Hopefully should be easier on her body, especially shallowing things out into impact. The wider takeaway will "force" her to pivot, which is something she has been severely lacking. She's basically so good she can get away with an armsy type of swing.

BTW going wider on the takeaway wouldn't necessarily reduce lag, it more like she's just less narrow now. If anything you see players that have more lag tend to delay the wrist set on the takeaway/mid-backswing and then load it in transition.  Also depends on what you define as lag, are we talking the angle at 5 or how far the hands are forward at 7.

Yeah they keep saying this reduces lag… driving me nuts.

Less lag, however, hasn’t translated to a big loss in distance. If the timing is there, it’s about the same off the tee, a touch shorter with her irons.

When LB makes these types of comments I wonder if he’s really studied the videos. So there isn’t less lag right? Does he just talk for the sake of saying something?

Not sure, haven't seen any good face-on video.

Funny regarding the less handsy 1-piece takeaway quote by Leadbetter.

"This day and age most players set the club a lot earlier than they did years ago."

I guess the new way is the very old way?

The slug on the URL says almost all… and in case you need more:

Ho hum. Maybe taking all those Lexi-like divots wasn't the best thing for her…

Brian Harman cocks his wrists right away like that, and DJ has an early wrist cock as well.  I'm thinking of someone else on Tour who also breaks his wrists right away. The one-piece takeaway isn't necessary.  So many different takeaway's, it's amazing.

She hasn't finished like that for awhile.

It's been a shorter follow through in recent years. I don't even think she followed through very far at the USWO that she won.

I always thought her stance became too wide.

Watching yday, the main issue I noticed is she's still got the bleached hair.  Her swing looked better with dark hair.

My thought exactly.

She will feel better about herself, too.
