PING Introduces G410 Drivers with moveable weight Technology

Significant advancements in custom fitting while delivering golfers the highest MOI’s and ball speeds available highlight the new PING G410 Plus and G410 SFT drivers. The multi-material drivers are available for pre-order today, and custom fitting at authorized PING golf shops around the world beginning in mid February.

Ping G410 Announcement

From Ping:

Quote

“OUR NEW, MOVABLE-WEIGHT TECHNOLOGY PROVIDES THE BENEFITS OF CUSTOM CG LOCATIONS, INCLUDING DIRECTIONAL CONTROL, WITHOUT SACRIFICING MOI OR BALL SPEEDS, WHICH IS WHAT WE’VE ALWAYS SEEN WITH OTHER NON-FIXED-WEIGHT DRIVERS. THE G410 PLUS OFFERS GOLFERS A SIMPLE, LOGICAL WAY TO CUSTOMIZE THEIR DRIVER AND ALLOWS THEM TO SWING AWAY ON THE TEE BOX WITHOUT FEAR OF MISSING THE FAIRWAY.”

My G400 was one of the best drivers I've ever played, and continues to be put in the bag regularly.

I'm excited about the G410 and really looking forward to putting it through its paces.

Man, that driver looks awesome.

Interesting to see the F9 driver has the same-ish style ribbing on the top. They both seem to have the angular ribs near the face and the two ribs across the top to the back. Ping's ribs on the clubhead are more pronounced than the F9 and in the previous iterations of the Ping driver.

I am glad to see them make the hosel more adjustable (wider range of loft values).

Strange that the SFT and the Plus are at 455cc. Maybe they found that they get a more aerodynamic profile with a bit less volume?

The SFT currently is only offered in 10.5 degrees with a D1 swingweight. The Plus has 9,10.5, and 12 degrees and all with a D3 swing weight. The SFT has the weight fixed in the draw setting, so not adjustable.

Pending spin profile, I suspect I would be the Ping G410 Plus, probably the 9 or 10.5 degree option, with the Ping Tour 75 X-Stiff shaft.

I wonder if they will come out with a lower spin model.

400 LST has been a good one for me so not sure if this will be in the bag but I'll certainly give it a try.

I like the updated crown design. Wasn't a huge fan of the dragonfly graphics.

Really interested to see how the new driver adjustments, specifically the flatter lie angles, work out. Would love to play a driver that is one or two flat from standard.

I think they found that was the best compromise for forgiveness and aerodynamics.

Most likely you'll see an LST head sometime this year, I would guess late August/September.

In another article I read Paul Wood said the LST was really good and hard for them to beat.

From watching some youtube videos, it looks like the G410 Plus is a moderately low spinning driver.

Well, I am a very happy camper!  I went to a Ping demo day at The Valley Golf Center in AZ.

I got a chance to try the new G410 Driver, 12º. The representative from Ping fit it with the Alta CB 45 Red, Soft Regular shaft.  The weight was set, by the Ping rep, to counter my problems with my overly wide draw.

It was love at first swing! I was able to hit about 45 strikes and got a chance to monitor ball speed and distance.  I usually use a Ping G5 12º, senior shaft.

It was a great experience. My ball speed increased by about 15% to consistently be 90 - 100+.  Because of the ball speed, flights were about 20 yards+ on every swing.

The shift of the weight did indeed keep my dreaded left turn from appearing. It took a few shots to work out the change of feel, but,  I never have hit straighter drives.

The thing that really made my day was the total feel of club. Balanced well, I had the best feel of a strike I can recall.  What really excited me was how centered in the sweet spot I hit the ball.

I was seriously looking the the G400Max.  That is a spectacular driver as well.  But the G410 is the one for me! When the club is finally released,I will purchase one.

I was excited to see my Golfers Warehouse had the G410.  I've been loving the F9 indoors and the flash subzero was good to me outside when I had the right shaft in it.  It's been a 2 horse race but I really wanted to see where the Ping would come in.

i was disappointed with it.  I was hitting on the  new GC2 quad and was psyched to see it had Tensei Orange shaft in it ( even though it was not the pro model).  Since I have a counterbalanced HZRDUS yellow now, I thought this would be great.  Practice swings it felt dynamite...and that's where that ended.  2 way misses, low ball speed, lack of distance, mediocre spin and no feel.   I even went so far as to hit it a few different times after hitting the F9 just in case I was swinging bad the first time.  Didnt make a difference.  I actually get better numbers from the g400 Max with almost any shaft I put in it.

At least the TM M5/M6 even though ball speed was not great had lower spin and still got the ball out there decently.

The Cobra is just crazy good.

    • Day 468 - 2026-01-11 Loooooong day. Did some work in the patio door (as a mirror) when I got home.
    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
