Ok, this falls into 2 categories. A legit long drive with no influences like cart paths...and then a long drive that has influences :)

1. I have driven a handful of par 4's around the 350 mark, usually golf outings..and only on days that are dry, and maybe some wind at my back..so I get a lot of roll. I'd say the longest one I have measured is like 365..I don't even recall when that was though.

2. In a college tournament, I blocked my drive right and knew it was most likely going out of bounds because there is a cart path merely 10 feet from the OB states all along the right side of the hole. My ball is literally over the OB markers at the peak of the flight, and I see it drawing back in (magically wind maybe?) and lands perfectly on the center of the cart path and stays on it for like 100+ yards :) It was like a 560 yard par 5..and I had wedge in :), so for rounding figures I think it was 420 yard drive.

Legit one was last Saturday on a 410 yard par 4, and 80 yards for second shot. I was in a tournament and saw the long drive marker out in the fairway, at around 260 yards so I crushed one to beat it, which I did, but I found that it was for another tournament going on the same day anyway....so it didn't count. Then the hole with the actual long drive for our tournament I hit a bit of a sky ball only 240 yards and was around 100 yards short of that long drive....

Assisted was at a course in Edmonton where you tee off 100 feet above the fairway and with a strong wind I hit one 380ish

I don't have GPS, or rangefinder, so I can't give you an exact number. My home course yardages are very good, as I've played with folks with GPS/Rangefinder and they match with our tees. I'm not putting up any hero yardages anyway...

Legit drive, I've hit maybe three balls that were 295-300. Well struck ball, little bit of tailwind, hard fairways so favorable conditions but nothing once in a lifetime.

Long drive, 325yds with a 25mph tailwind. Hit the ball well, and high, so it got full benefit of the tailwind.

My SS is 110-111mph so a very well struck ball in normal conditions is good for about 285yds, I do this maybe once a round.

longest i remember would be 340 yards drive to green at a local muni. considerably downhill from tee box.

other would be similar to majorchamp. hit a drive bounce and roll down the cart path like 80 yards. similar story as well, tee'ed off with a 6 iron on a dogleg right and pushed it to the right. thought i was in the woods until i got to my ball. The ball hit the cart path and bounced onto the fairway so I was 280 yards into the fairway from the teebox.

Longest ever - I'll let you know as soon as it lands. I only hit it yesterday. If you think you saw something out of the corner of your eye, and maybe it was a reflection from somewhere, that was probably my ball flying through your town!

I maybe overdid it though. The way my neck feels today Mr Burns could probably outdrive me.

Wind assisted.... last year it was 323 yards measured with GPS. That is the longest I've had since I've been able to measure accurately. Had another one earlier that year that was 321 yards... not so much wind but it caught a good kick forward off the front side of a mound and shot on down a level fairway. My typical drive on either of those holes is some 70-80 yards shorter.

I've hit at least one drive a lot longer than that, but had no way to accurately measure it... that was some 20 odd years ago and the ball was nearing 400 yards by the time it came to rest. I was left with a 15 yard chip on a 400 yard par 4 hole. My tee shot was pulled left and landed on a packed clay maintenance road and it stayed on the road until it was almost even with the front of the green before trickling off into the light rough left of the green.

At my engineering conference i go to in columbus, they offered a blind bid for a 4 person free pass to play Firestone North in Akron Ohio, the other 18 holes that got played once at the firestone invitational. The Tourniment is usually played on firestone south.

Well i am on the 16th hole, par 5 that is a slight dogleg left, just barely bends left just enough to bring in some trees. I decided to be suicidal and play the blues that day, 6500+ yards on that course, fun day of pain. My dad and his friend played around 6000 yards. It was in spring, and it rained a ton, so nothing was rolling. Some parts of the course, near the front of greens were really sloshy, just a handful of places, its understandable that time of year in Ohio. Well i lay into this drive, and it felt like i hit nothing but air, no feeling of the golf ball, just a loud ping as the drive just bombs down the middle of the fairway. We drive up and find my ball about 2 feet from the imprint it left in the soft fairway, it actually backed up half a yard, to much spin ;). But we looked at the card and and paced off the yardage, and it was 335 in the air, give or take a few yards.

Two of my three longest came on hole #8 of my local muni: 415 yd par 4 where you have to hit it over a hill and then if you've just cleared it going up it'll roll down to the bottom. Both times there (for my great hits) ended up being around 105 left to the green.

Other time was a low penetrating drive into a slight wind that got about 270, normally if I'm not slicing it it'll go about 230-240

No clue. I don't have a GPS unit nor do I typically play at a course with GPS in the carts. I never attempt to figure out how far I hit it using yardage markers either. I really have no clue how far I drive the ball.

At my bro-in-laws country club there's a short par 4 that measures 302yds. I once made it to the front of the green on that hole, so I guess that's probably my farthest known drive, 290-295ish.

I've never cared enough to know.

I know about how far and where I WANT to hit it, and as long as I achieve those things I'm satisfied.

But I've never played with anyone that was significantly longer than me, and I usually outhit most of the Goobers I randomly paired with, so I'd say I was pretty average.

I wonder how long until this thread turns into twenty pages worth of aggro, disputing distances, etc...

Anyway, the longest tee shot that I measured with GPS was 236 yards. Steel shafted 3-wood, so I was mildly impressed.

Longest estimate using course yardage was 250 with the same club, but from an elevated tee.

I don't know how far they went, but I got a couple out past the ladies' tees the other day. It's amazing how much easier it is to play golf when your pants aren't around your ankles.

348 with 3 witnesses. my local range has a fence at the 305 mark and If I were to hit 10 drives I'd probably put 8 over the fence. being 6'3", having arms 4"longer than normal for my height, and being young and very flexible = tons of reproduceable clubhead speed. My average drive for the last 8 rounds I've played is 309 yards.

    • @boogielicious and I are definitely in for the Stay & Play and will need the extra night's stay on Friday. I don't know what the plans are for our group on Friday but even if we don't make it for dinner with the rest of the Friday arrivals, I'll be more than happy to meet up somewhere for a beer or something.
    • Taking your dispersion and distance in consideration I analyzed the 4 posible ways to play the hole, or at least the ones that were listed here. I took the brown grass on the left as fescue were you need to punch out sideways to the fairway and rigth of the car path to be fescue too.  Driver "going for the green"  You have to aim more rigth, to the bunker in order to center your shotzone in between the fescue.  Wood of 240 over the bunkers I already like this one more for you. More room to land between the fescue. Balls in the fescue 11% down from 30% with driver. Improve of score from 4.55 to 4.40. 4 iron 210 yards besides the bunkers.    Also a wide area and your shot zone is better than previous ones. This makes almost the fescue dissapear. You really need to hit a bad one (sometimes shit happens). Because of that and only having 120 yards in this is the best choice so far. Down to 4.32 from 4.40. Finally the 6 Iron 180 yards to avoid all trouble.    Wide area an narrow dispersion for almost been in the fairway all the time. Similar than the previous one but 25 yards farther for the hole to avoid been in the bunkers. Average remains the same, 4.33 to 4.32.  Conclusion is easy. Either your 4iron or 6 iron of the tee are equaly good for you. Glad that you made par!
    • Wish I could have spent 5 minutes in the middle of the morning round to hit some balls at the range. Just did much more of right side through with keeping the shoulders feeling level (not dipping), and I was flushing them. Lol. Maybe too much focus on hands stuff while playing.
    • Last year I made an excel that can easily measure with my own SG data the average score for each club of the tee. Even the difference in score if you aim more left or right with the same club. I like it because it can be tweaked to account for different kind of rough, trees, hazards, greens etc.     As an example, On Par 5's that you have fescue on both sides were you can count them as a water hazard (penalty or punch out sideways), unless 3 wood or hybrid lands in a wider area between the fescue you should always hit driver. With a shorter club you are going to hit a couple less balls in the fescue than driver but you are not going to offset the fact that 100% of the shots are going to be played 30 or more yards longer. Here is a 560 par 5. Driver distance 280 yards total, 3 wood 250, hybrid 220. Distance between fescue is 30 yards (pretty tight). Dispersion for Driver is 62 yards. 56 for 3 wood and 49 for hybrid. Aiming of course at the middle of the fairway (20 yards wide) with driver you are going to hit 34% of balls on the fescue (17% left/17% right). 48% to the fairway and the rest to the rough.  The average score is going to be around 5.14. Looking at the result with 3 wood and hybrid you are going to hit less balls in the fescue but because of having longer 2nd shots you are going to score slightly worst. 5.17 and 5.25 respectively.    Things changes when the fescue is taller and you are probably going to loose the ball so changing the penalty of hitting there playing a 3 wood or hybrid gives a better score in the hole.  Off course 30 yards between penalty hazards is way to small. You normally have 60 or more, in that cases the score is going to be more close to 5 and been the Driver the weapon of choice.  The point is to see that no matter how tight the hole is, depending on the hole sometimes Driver is the play and sometimes 6 irons is the play. Is easy to see that on easy holes, but holes like this:  you need to crunch the numbers to find the best strategy.
