My rep says they won't totally revamp a product (ie. R13) until they come up with something revolutionary. He also said there is a good chance a new model of the R11 will come out this fall. Anyone have any ideas of what will be different? What it will be called? I am holding back on the R11 purchase until I see what's up with the new one as I absolutely love the R11 as an upgrade from my R7 superquad.

I would like to see a cross between the R11 and the Burner. Personally, I don't feel the lie and loft adjustments are something I would use often enough to justify the purchase since I have no problem shaping shots with my 09 Tour Burner. I did like the way the club sounded and felt it was slightly longer than my current driver. The new Burner did not feel as solid even though the shaft was fixed, maybe this is due to the head shape and additional weights but I'm no engineer.

I read/thought it was going to be a more basic model. Non adjustable etc

I heard they are adding 14 more weights to it and filling the head with a nitrous oxide to make the ball go 900.34 yards further than the leading competitions driver. Oh and it will have a button on the nub of the grip to activate "super long" mode, but that will only be on the TP version.

The worst day of golf beats the best day of work!

differences in sound and feel are probably due to the smaller head on the R11.

as per the OP, i *thought* TaylorMade was going to release a black model at some point.

Instead of starting another thread, I'll just add to this one.

TaylorMade is sticking with white for 2012.  TaylorMade will release new drivers, fairway woods and rescues in February that will only be available in white. Look for the new line to be used by PGA Tour players before that time.  They are also ending the black '79 putters, which means all putters from TMAG will be white.

In August, TaylorMade celebrated what it says is the one millionth white-headed metalwood sold in the United States in 2011. That would be one million drivers, fairway woods and hybrids in less than seven months – beginning in February after the 2011 PGA Merchandise Show.

TaylorMade’s market share in metalwoods has increased dramatically in 2011. Combining sales of the new white-headed metalwoods (which includes the Burner SuperFast 2.0) and the older TaylorMade metalwoods with dark heads, the company’s most recent market share in units was 35.7 percent, while its dollar share was 41 percent as measured by Golf Datatech.

The R11 was the No. 1 driver model in each of the four majors in 2011.

But what do you guys think?  Is white better or is it just a gimmick?

I personally like the adjustability, customize it for what you need.  I like an open face, which is hard to find with most driver that you buy.  It also great if you want to try a different shaft, just unscrew and you've got a new driver.  The white is fine, don't hate it or love it.

And thought this interview was interesting:

PGATOUR.COM: What was the initial reaction from players? What was the process?

TOULON: Early on when players would come through and we'd talk to them. We started the process in 2006. We painted some heads red and yellow and white and orange and black and we put them in front of them. Kenny Perry loved the yellow one. They were so open to it; it was just something that had been there four years prior. We went through a bunch of colors. There were a lot of people inside the building who were really afraid of white. None of them were players.

We were at our big photo shoot at THE TOUR Championship and we had 11 or 12 players. They came in one by one. Martin Kaymer : 'I think the white is very interesting.' And he's not someone who switches. Kenny Perry: 'I think it's awesome.' Sean O'Hair at first said, 'I think it's the ugliest thing I've ever seen.' Then he hit about 10 shots and thought it was the greatest driver he ever hit. Jason Day , off the charts good; Justin Rose , off the charts good; Paula Creamer , off the charts; Natalie Gulbis the same. We knew there was going to be no issue from the TOUR player. We know it's going to be best performing driver we've ever made, we know the TOUR players are going to play it because they like the way it performs and they like the way it looks. It's going to be so incredibly visible the PGA TOUR is going to look like the TaylorMade tour.

From what I've read:

The R11 line will remain -- the R11 Driver will go 460cc.

The R11 Fairways will be revamped - Toulon claims they are other worldly - my guess is they've retooled the insides, made it a tad larger and improved feel/sound and the face.

The Burner line is done. A new line will replace it.

Lot of rumors flying around about the RBZ driver with an updated R11 as well called the R11 S.  RBZ will be for the mid/high handicapper.

Go-faster stripes. Awesome! I can't wait to rocket my Slazenger Raw Distance "a ton" further into the woods.

I would like to know more about the R11S. All I've read is that it is rumored to be 460cc. Not sure if that is enough to get me to upgrade? Also what is with the RBZ? It looks like an entry level driver within the TM family? Glued in with no way to adjust the loft or lie.

Would previously have thought it impossible, but these make the Cally RAZRs look like the very model of restraint, from both marketing and design perspectives.
