There are a lot of great players out there with no majors, but who do think is most likely to get the proverbial monkey off their back in 2012.

In my mind the answer has to be Luke Donald, just super consistent and composed. I think he is going to get one of the big ones next year

Donald is certainly the best player in the world right now and should challenge for his first major at Augusta like he did this year, but the way the golf landscape is currently it will in all likelihood end up being someone nobody will even think of mentioning in this thread.

I'll go with Bo Van Pelt

Jeez, this is a tough one. So many quality players to choose from.

Besides Luke Donald (who finished T4 at the Masters this year), I'm going to also vote for Jason Day. In six career major starts he's gone, in this order, T60, T10, T2, 2nd, T30, MC. Not too bad.

I also feel like it's only a matter of time for Nick Watney, even though he finished 46th at the 2011 Masters. He finished 7th there in 2010 and had a nice showing at the PGA earlier this year (T12).

I'm not completely confident these guys (Day and Watney) know how to patch their swings up quickly like some of their peers can when they start hitting bad shots, but when they're on, they're really on.

And I also feel like I have to throw Webb Simpson's name in the hat. Besides that awful missed putt at the McGladrey, he's, well...so hot right now. He was insanely close to netting five wins this year (two wins, three second places(two playoff losses and one loss where his ball moved as he addressed it with his putter)). It'll be interesting to see if it carries over to 2012.

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
