Apollo bay golf club, Victoria, Australia. 1st hole, 120 meter par 3. Into the wind. So i played a 3/4 swing with what's amusingly called a 7/8 iron(yes, it's stamped on the bottom of the club!). Anyhow 2 bounces a bit of a check and it rolled straight in. The great thing ....well there are 3 great things 1. my wife was watching from the car(so now she ACTUALLY believes that I can play golf!) 2. this is my second hole in one 3. this was my first as a right hander, I decided to flip to right hand about 3 weeks ago.

The people coming down the 9th heard the giggly laughing and the running in circles and thought I was having some kind of Epileptic seizure. I'm still a bit giggly

Taking the above advice may lead to destruction of your golf game. Laughing at it may reduce stress.

An ace from both sides is pretty cool.  I've yet to hit one, so don't know the actual feeling but can imagine it's got to be awesome.  Congrats

I had my first one a few weeks ago. It's a great feeling. Having one from each side is unique.

Congrats Logman, well done!

Only 3 weeks and already a hole in one is pretty darn impressive.

I am a fairly decent athlete and consider myself somewhat ambidextrous, as far as throwing a ball or swinging a bat, but a golf club?  That's another story.  Good for you sir!

If I remember correctly from another thread, he's played right handed before. Something about more power from on side but more touch from the other.

Congratulations!

I tell people I have many flaws, but I have been perfect three times in my life - 8/22/75 with a 7-iron, 8/3/91 with a 9-iron & 5/5/92 with a 6-iron.

Wow!  Congrats on hitting a hole-in-one as a righty, when you normally play lefty!  That is definitely a very nice accomplishment that you can be proud of.  I'd say you are in a very elite class... And if you have witnesses of the two (one from each side), could quite possibly get some recognition from various golf media outlets?

Oh, and I've been playing golf for a long time... At least a thousand rounds under my belt and have yet to hit a hole in one.

Actually, just a few weeks back, on January 5th in a tournament, was the first time anyone in my foursome as a playing partner has hit a hole-in-one.  We were playing at San Juan Hills, Hole #7 from the Blue tee's.  The hole was playing ~ 175 with a pretty strong right to left wind.  First my playing partner/teammate Mike stepped up hit a pure shot to a foot right of the hole.  We were all joking that he needed to aim a foot left next time.  Then the guy I was playing directly against (match play - stroke play) on the opposing team dunked it on a one hopper.  Perfect line, perfect shot.  We were all hooting and hollaring, and I was stunned - and still am to this day that he hit a hole in one on me.  Especially when my teammate hit it to within a 1ft on the same exact hole (he did make his birdie too).  It was pretty stunning.

I think the funniest part about that round/day was that I was giving the guy I was playing against 7 strokes.  He hit an ace on #7 and then birdied #8 to go -3 for those two holes.  On the same two holes I went +3.  Somehow, I ground out the round and still beat him and took 6pts for the team.

Gotta love this game we play!!

Congrats. I have been playing all my life and have never gotten one playing right handed. I couldnt putt left handed. I wouldnt consider taking a full swing. If/when I hit my first I will be smiling for probably a month.

I actually got one as a kid, playing a par 3 course by myself and didn't see it go in.  I thought it was lost when I didn't see it on the green.  I can only barely remember it now.  Probably the least exciting hole in one ever.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
