For the last couple of years I've been using a yellow ball, usually the Callaway Hex Chrome yellow or Srixon Z Star yellow but the last couple of rounds I used the Taylor Made Project (a) ball and really liked the performance... i.e. I played well.  Whenever anyone asks me why I play the yellow ball I typically say because it's one less thing I have to worry about.  I almost never have to worry about playing the wrong ball or if that's my ball or the green or someone else's.  With a glance I can just look and say, "nope, not my ball... I'm the yellow one".

On the other hand,  I love the feel of Pro V1's and I really liked the Taylor Made ball... but white balls seem so bland.

Some of it may be a status issue... not may players on the PGA Tour play a yellow ball.  I think I saw VJay playing one recently.

Anyone else have thoughts about the yellow versus white ball?

Is it hard to find the green ball sometimes?  It would be like playing a camouflage ball in the woods.

I find it easier to find in most backgrounds.   You would think locating a green ball on green grass would be harder but that has not been the case for me.

The Volvik green ball is much brighter green than in the picture

It's like a glow in the dark kind of green. Easy to find, but not as easy as orange though. Only problem is that I can't make them bite like a balata.

That Titleist (looks like a ProV from the lettering) is dingy looking. Looks old.

It's a 2013 ProV1x (from the sidestamp arrow design), and has likely been used.

I suspect that choice of non-white ball may link to individual differences in the human eye.

For several seasons I played an orange Wilson ball. But, the brand phased out, and I haven't found a good orange mid-spin ball to replace it.

The lime green are OK for me in late fall to early spring, when the turf is tan and the sky is often light gray. But, I prefer white or orange in other times.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Depends on whether the course is covered in dandelions or seagull feathers.

The course I play is covered in dandelions unless it was mowed in the past day. Fairways look like driving ranges. I have spent minutes looking for my ball in the middle of the fairway because of it. My eye is just drawn to every freaking dandelion! Is that my ball? Oops no. Ooh is that my ball? Nah.

One course I play tends to have all these little white mushrooms at certain times of the year.  You think you've spotted your ball only to get there and find it's a mushroom. :censored:

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
