Basically Jackass: Golf Edition. I mean I do learn from watching these though, but lots of SMH.

There's nothing quite like "shortcutting" it to the next tee, and arriving 10 minutes late after righting the cart and collecting the strewn golf clubs.  TMB... Too Much Beer.

Most of those aren't fails: they're just that weird thing where people intentionally run into other people with golf carts. WTF is that? Why was that EVER a thing? That can f***ing hurt, it can break the carts, and it can injure people quite severely, especially when the person being hit often has a steel or graphite shaft in their hands.

That would have been funny, beer cans spewing from the cart, a few hitting the driver in the noggin'.

Bull. There have always been clowns. Don’t pin this on Woods increasing golf’s popularity.

Years ago I was at a conference in Vancouver and drove north for the day to play Furry Creek (built on the side of a mountain).  I'm not a cart person but rented one as it was mid-week and I had to get to the airport as soon as I could finish.  First tee is very elevated and it have just rained and the cart path wet.  I get in the cart and start downhill and immediately realize I'm going too fast.  There was no regulator.  I hit the brakes and begin to hydroplane.  The cart literally spins 180 degrees, ends up pointing uphill at just the part of the path where there is a 90 degree bend.  So close to going over and being left as food for the bears.

If you get a chance, this is a place worth driving 35 minutes north of Vancouver.

Furry 1.jpeg

The first hole at Shuksan Golf Course near me has a cart path dropping 100 feet.  On wet days or in the winter with the prevalent moss it is dangerous and steep.  I have had nightmares of meeting my end there.  So I either walk down and let my braver buddy drive the cart or take a round-about route and go down the cart path up from #18 and cross over to #1 fairway.

A lot of people hate Furry Creek because it is 'tricked up"......but it is one of the most picturesque courses one will/could play.....I'm one of the few that doesn't mind Furry.....but it's cart mandatory....and I don't like cart golf.

It's gone through a few ownership changes....basically a real estate development.

Some parts of Happy Gilmore was filmed there...including the scene with the Bob Barker fight.

There were very few clowns in the 60's, 70's and 80's.....Eldrick's popularity brought out the clowns......lots of clowns play golf because one need not be in shape nor good at the sport .....and it's a good excuse for the boys to drink beer and act like a bunch of yahoo's....guys are CLOWN's.....I've personally yet to see women act like a bunch of TOOLS on the links.

BINGO! South of where I live used to be a hill climb, and occasionally I'd go down and watch when they had an event. The last part of the hill was darn near vertical! One guy in a tricked out jeep got stuck right at the top, and couldn't get over. Instead of just backing down the hill, he tried to turn around! The instant he got sideways to the hill, he fell over and started to tumble all the way down the hill! There were parts flying off of that jeep left and right!

Those people are lucky they weren't seriously injured!

Some years back a new, upscale, daily fee course opened in my area. It features several really steep ravines that cut through it. Our first time playing there I noticed that they had "NASCAR" carts! They were really fast, but didn't have a lot in the way of brakes. Driving from 7 green to 8 tee, suddenly the  cart path pitched downhill at a steep gradient, and I could see about a 45 degree turn at the bottom of the hill to negotiate the bridge over the ravine! I hit the brakes and not much happened. By the time we reached the bottom of the hill I was standing on the brake pedal with both feet!

We made the turn but I think I stood the cart on two wheels to do it! Scared the living crap out of me. When we finished the round I went to the counter and told the guy that they needed to look into the brakes on their carts!

Nope.

Dude, watch yourself lately. First the shit comments about Korean women, now this about “Eldrick?” Almost nobody who calls him “Eldrick” is doing so without a heavy side of racism.

Plenty of “clowns” existed in golf before Tiger.

He brought out tons of athletic and talented kids who otherwise would’ve chosen another sport.

No question, Tiger made it cool to play golf.....it wasn't that cool to play when I started in the 60's.

What? ………. Are you serious?
I'm not sure how you can even think that. You may be able to argue that Tiger increased the popularity of the sport and therefore more people took up the game. And if you assume that a certain percentage of all people are "clowns". … then I guess you could argue there are more clowns....

Having said that, there are disrespectful idiots everywhere. Add alcohol to disrespectful idiots and you get "Clowns". The only difference is today everyone carries a movie camera in their pocket. So, we get instant footage of the Clowns in all their glory.

I drove it right, into the trees on the first hole. And I used a 3 iron to "play it safe". Stupid hole. Next time driver is coming out. I bogeyed the par 3 scenic hole. Saw the smallest frog ever, in the bushes.
