Not much chance of that since he was banned, Chet.

Notice the username with the strike through it? 🙂

Oops, I didn't really look. I just woke up this morning to a ton of activity in this thread. To my surprise it was all arguing over silly stuff. Anyhow, at least I got to add "pedantic" to my vocabulary list.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Just don’t use it the way he did.

Imagine that.  Argue with the owner of a forum; be disrespectful of the forum, its members, and said owner, get banned.  Shocking.  One fears poor Bones is in for a rude surprise if he expects anything else anywhere else.

I've long wondered about that strike I've seen through some members' nicks.  Now I know--complements of ex-member Bones.

As for his original topic: To each their own.  I haven't practiced on the course, yet, but it's something I may try this coming season.

On the topic itself ...

I used to love practicing on the course. My prior home club had an executive course and plenty of times there would be nearly no one on it. It was great for working out the irons and wedges and getting ready for the season.

Sadly, it just isn't really possible to do that anywhere around here now. It's tough even getting on a course without having at least one other player with you and that makes practice not really feasible.

Changing the title of a dude’s thread, unless against a code of conduct, makes this place waaaaay less desirable.

And then you get sensitive about his retort??  WOW!!!

Guess you showed him, Boss!!!

You certainly are entitled to that opinion, but did you actually read the series of posts?

In post #22, the OP says he was “shitcanned” because someone disagreed with what he was saying. Obviously REALLY thin-skinned and over-reactive. He calls the administration’s decision to change the title “childish & authoritarian.” Seriously?

In the very next post (#23), the administrator explains, in a friendly & polite way, why the title was changed. I didn’t make that decision, but completely agree with it. The Title made No sense. Whatever, no big deal, again, if that was upsetting, someone is really thin-skinned.

The next post from @boogielicious was apologetic for there being some misunderstanding, to which the OP responded in #27 the he was taking his ball and going home after calling folks pedantic several times (I think he just learned the word or something). I don’t see how this was anyone else’s doing other than the OP being thin-skinned when someone disagreed with him.

But you are entitled to feel the way you do.

Title changes typically happen when the original title didn't make sense or wasn't relevant to the topic that OP discusses in their post. The original title was something like "Two Mindsets of Golf" but the post doesn't talk about having different mindsets, therefore the original title was relevant or accurate.

How does someone changing the title of a topic to something more relevant make this forum way less desirable? If anything changing the title to something more accurate improves the site because it helps increase the accuracy of the search function.

If I’m on the course by myself and I’m not holding anyone up, I practice all of the time (I’m also a member of a Country Club, so no one is going to say anything to me for hitting extra balls).  I find areas of the course that I might find myself in during a round and hit a few balls (especially around the green), so I have an idea of how I want to play that shot when the score counts and that is where I find my ball.

OT.. I appreciate the title change.   When people Google a topic to search for practice on the course they don't want to find something totally off topic about two mind sets.   Regardless of the OP, each topic title should represent the topic of the thread.

Funny thing is he didn't even argue with me. Not really.

I told him to relax, and he called me names for changing the title of his post (and offering to change it again if someone could give me a better title than what it has now).

Yeah.

Often, if someone is banned, the content that got them banned isn't visible.

We ban roughly one non-spammer per month. It's really uncommon. And @bones was leaving anyway.

Yeah, we changed the title. Oooooooooooooh. His original title didn't make any sense.

You're welcome to show yourself the door at any time. We did nothing wrong here.

Let's get back to the topic, now, please.

    • Day 133 (25 Apr 24) - Worked with the Divot Board today added a piece of cardboad behind the ball to help reinforce ball first contact. Contact improved through the round.   Added grandson's football goal posts about 10yds out to add a good start line visual Good session today.
    • Day 120: 4/25/24 Full Speed Spectrum training session. Low energy today and my speed was lower than normal. Will see what I can do on Saturday.
    • Day 541, April 25, 2024 Ten minutes after lessons. Still not caught up, but should be by tomorrow evening.
    • Playing irons only may lead to some short-term gains, but you'll want to at least practice with the driver if you ultimately have some decently good goals.
    • He plays from 68.3 / 124.  A combo tee setup of normal mens and seniors.   I play from 69.7/127.   He left after taking a triple on 14 and then leaving.  Which plays to what I think his plan is,   He doesn’t stroke on 14 but would have to take bogey for non completed holes on the way in.   Maybe that’s giving him too much credit, but he found a way to add 4 shots to his score over three holes so….     I looked up his last 20 rounds in GHIN and he has a lot of rounds at easier courses (rating and slope) that are higher than his normal rounds at home.   Since I mostly have his front nine score during the match (36) to go on, he has three nine hole scores at our course posted that are 41-43. I wrote the whole thing up to the head of our golf association who runs all the tournaments.  Our pro is not involved officially in the tournaments because the golf associations are separate from the club.   He’s pretty well known for this, however I was pretty shocked at how well he played carrying a 15.   I think eventually they will do something, a lot of people have complained.  The golf association threw someone out a couple of years ago and it was a three month situation where the guy retaliated.  They probably are hesitant to go thru anything like that again.  That is a rather crazy story I might post about later.
