Check the yardage book: Pine Needles for the U.S. Women’s Open

Kyle Franz recently renovated the Donald Ross layout that will host the U.S. Women’s Open for a fourth time. Check out hole-by-hole maps.

As much as I like watching the men play at Muirfield Village, I'm going to be watching a LOT of the USWO at Pine Needles.

It's one of my favorite courses.

I'm with you guys, I've played there, I'll enjoy watching the tournament.  But its going to be tough, this is Member-Guest week at Stoneleigh, I'm playing with @jsgolfer.  Thank god for the DVR.

Went today, and had a great time. The course really looked good. Smaller crowds than a men’s open, and not a single get in the hole, mashed potatoes or Babba booey. Really a great atmosphere.

The course looked very generous off the tee, but those greens did look tough. Being on the correct part of the green was not only important for scoring, but it also determined if the ball would stay on the green. We saw several times when an approach shot was a couple yards away from being a very good shot and it ended up in a bunker, chipping area,or native area. There is no rough around the greens, so the ball can roll pretty far from the green.

      First swings at after a 2.5 month forced hiatus. No surgery in the forecast at the moment! Doc said okay to start easing in gently over a few weeks. The effort is barely 30% here but felt solid.  I think my swing changed a few years ago after my right ankle injury (weight shift profile). I wonder if this may bring about another change. I certainly won't pivot on to the knee (left) aggressively any time soon, if ever. Could even be a good thing..heh.

      Slomo video of me working on the arms raising thing in the backswing. I think this is better, albeit I’m going fairly slowly and then stopping. Too darn cold to go outside and I don’t have room to safely make a full motion indoors, so this will have to do till I can make it to the range.
