Nothing........went to Edwin Watts going out of business sale and their prices were anything but good....

Will agree with this for the most part. I went in just to see what they had and the club pricing wasn't much lower than what you can find if you shop around. I did find some good deals on gloves (2 pairs of fj rain gloves, 2 pairs of fj winter gloves for $26). I rarely see xxl gloves in stores so I tend to scoop them up if they are around. They also had a pair of fj sport spikeless shoes for $35.00 that I didn't need, but again I rarely see size 14 in stores, and for the price I figured why not. The one in St. Louis is closing for good March 5th and I will probably stop by there again to see if I can find anything else. They didn't know if they were going to keep dropping prices the last time I was there 3 weeks ago.

I just picked up my driver that I had cutdown a half inch, so paid for that and the grip.  Then a cleaning tool.  However, I keep going and testing the Odyssey Tank #7 Versa SuperStroke putter and it's making me crazy.  I have been on the shelf for a over a month with putting the only thing I could do. If I ever have a putt on carpet competition in my house I'm going to make a lot of dough.  Man, just don't know about dropping the coin.

I've come full circle.   For many years, I bought nothing but FootJoy shoes, but it's been over a decade since my last pair. I buy 2 pair almost every year, so that's a lot of shoes!!  I strayed for various reasons, non of which have to do with being unhappy with FootJoy.   IE....I belonged to a club that only sold Nike for several years, etc, etc.......and I bought my shoes at the club for convenience.   My last couple pair have been ADIDAS because I liked their look.

Now coming full circle................. I went back to FootJoy and purchased 2 pair yesterday.

Pair 1 are all black Contour Series:  I planned to buy DryJoys, but these were MUCH more comfortable

Pair 2 are the all new DNA:

I've been wanting a pair of these!! These are much lighter than the Contour Series, and feel pretty good on the feet!   Good looking shoes too...IMO

PS...Yes, I only buy black shoes.  LOL

What's in Paul's Bag:
- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Driver
- Big Bertha Alpha 815 3-wood

G25 4 Wood.  My goal is not to buy another club for the rest of the year except when I wear out my sand wedge.  ;)  We will see...

It's good to have goals......

Crap...it was a good try.

Yeah, it was a good run, I fell just short of my goal though. It was close, I almost made it. ;)

Ordered a Scotty Cameron pistolino grip - don't like the red corded grip I have on my putter now.

Bushnell Tour V3 JOLT.

Works well. Very happy with it. I've generally used a GPS app on my phone in the past and this is both faster and better.

These were on pretty darn cheap so I thought I'd try the Footjoy 'minimalist' offering.  I love all my various pairs of True Linkswear but I quite liked the look of these.  They are definitely NOT zero-drop heels but for Footjoy they are pretty low!

Just ordered my 2014 club cameron kit, yellow studio scotty Cameron headcover with divot tool from 2001 and a scotty oil cloth.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
