If it wasn't a power failure it would be a hurricane that would eventually ruin the dome. Palm Beach State College is less than 3 miles off the ocean, so, just a matter of time anyways.

Six teams of PGA TOUR stars will be featured on prime time ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN+

The schedule is out!

I have two Ballfrogs hats. Just because I like the logo. I'll tune in and see what it's about.

I saw a couple videos on YouTube about this league. It seems it started a few days ago.

Yeah, it started Tuesday night.

I watched the first hour and a half or so of it. I enjoyed it. It was fast paced, different, entertaining, etc. I think it's a perfect thing to watch in the winter when good portions of the country are stuck inside and have nothing else to do on Monday evenings. (First week was on a Tuesday but the rest of the matches are on Mondays I believe)

The whole thing ran pretty smoothly IMO. Technology seemed to work fine, and if this is the "worst" that it's going to look and feel, I'm here for it.

My wife bought a Boston Common shirt last night because she likes the logo. I think Boston Common is the best logo and I'll probably pick up a hat or shirt from them as well.

There isn't one team that is made up of 4 players that I like a lot, but if I had to pick a team to be a fan of, I'd pick LA or Team Jupiter, but I feel like Team Jupiter will be a fan favorite simply because of Tiger.

This too.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

I'm wearing a Ballfrogs hat in my photo with Lou from the other day (and I wore it again today):

This was the WORST the production and live show are going to be, and they got a lot of things right with only room to grow. I think it'll only get better (not wildly so, but incrementally).

And it didn't help that it was a blowout, and yet… it was still pretty interesting. Singles was weirdly a little bit of a drag. I almost wonder if that's not a mid-season change.

I wouldn't mind getting a Jupiter hat since I live down here, plus it's Tiger's team.

I enjoyed how much faster it was, as well as the grass tees. I'm looking forward to Tiger's first match next week.

Shame, it looks like the entire season's sold out. I live right down the road from it. Oh well.

I was hoping to see the data on all the shots. Not just carry and total distance, but all of the stuff you see on a simulator. It should be on the TV screen like you see relevant data for a football game. A couple of the approach shots they didn't even state the distance to the pin. I think that would probably be something they add as time goes on as they get feedback.

I was surprised the camera didn't zoom in on wives and children, unless I missed it. I didn't watch the last 3 holes. I guess they weren't going for a family vibe.

I will watch again, but with less anticipation. It was a Tuesday night and the weather sucks.

Some of the tee shot data they showed was wildly incorrect too, specifically apex height There were multiple drives that they claimed had apex heights of like 35 feet yet they still carried 300yds. I wonder if that was the apex height when it reached the screen, not the calculated apex height.

I do agree that more data and even being able to hear/see which clubs the players select would be nice. They could easily do it by having someone looking in the bag and pressing a button for whichever club is missing from the player's bag as they're walking up to hit.

I honestly think they were saying feet but it was in yards.

The apex height was horrible, yeah. The rest was, from what I saw, pretty good. I agree it should be up on almost any shot they hit into the screen. Heck, I'd love to see it on the short shots around the green, but they don't have launch monitors over there, so… oh well.

Go figure they're Full Swing LMs. It's funny they have like twelve of them going. It's not a good LM, but… Tiger's involved, so…

I watched it and for the most part it was enjoyable.

I did not enjoy a lot of the non-golfer background talk.

Some of the hole designs were "wonky"; the par 5 with the three separate fairways - it was obvious tour level players were going to hit for the middle fairway - so no strategy in that design. I would prefer more realistic hole designs with a lot of strategic intent built in. You could see the players over at the computer screen planning out their shots - but not once were we able to hear what they were saying - that is what I would have liked to hear. Maybe in the future they could solicit hole designs from the top golf architects in the industry.

Having the graphic showing the ideal putting line would be nice. I agree with Iacas - having as much data as possible would be nice. Maybe they could have that available on a web site with real time updates and allowing you to replay the shot.

So much more they could do! Hopefully as it takes off they will be able to add this.

I would also like to see a LIV team - captained by Bryson. An LPGA team - captained by Nelly.

But… they didn't all aim for the middle fairway.

I wouldn't. It's fantasy golf. It's sim golf. Put hazards in the sky. Put a giant wall in front of the tee with a small hole to hit through. Stuff like that.

They did. Nicklaus did some of them.

Where would this be? The players are putting on a real (synthetic) green. Not sure what you mean here.

It's a PGA Tour product. There's not going to be a LIV team.

Not for awhile at least.

They should announce just before a match that in no way shape or form will we see any LIV involvement in TGL only to have a LIV team of Bryson, Brooks and Patrick Reed show up mid-broadcast NWO style, mic in hand, talking shit to the PGA Tour guys and the booing crowd, then leaving.

Then a week later they play a TGL event.

Hopefully the LIV guys know what an adjective is.

Yeaaaa, it was a letdown last night. Doesn't help we've seen two blowouts so far. Additionally, I have no idea why Tiger went with Kevin Kisner on his squad. The guy's game has really fallen off the last couple years.

And lastly, I do wonder about those Full Swing simulators. Those are considered not-so-great, right? I'm not in the industry, so I don't know, but I seem to recall people not loving their accuracy.

I think they have to decide if it’s serious competition or a fun hit and giggle. I thought the format was better last night with less talking especially early on and it seemed to get into the golf a little bit sooner. They played a lot worse and so it took longer but I only watched the first 45 minutes or so.

The launch monitors they are using are terrible and I think that is why Tiger flew his yardage by 25 yards, not because he hit a bad shot. Also, the greens are entirely too soft. Justin’s three wood stopped within 10 feet of where it hit.

    • It sucks to carry around a lot of water, but ideally it should be way more than we think.  I buy those gallon jugs of water and hang them from my pushcart when I walk. I agree with the electrolytes as well. You don't just sweat out water, but you lose electrolytes as well.
    • A 2010 study from the Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research compares the effects of different pre-round stretch routines for competitive golfers. Active Dynamic Warm-up: Swing Medicus driver, hit 3 shots each with selected clubs. Passive Static Stretches: Various athletic stretches such as hamstrings, chest stretch and reverse trunk twist. The subjects were collegiate golfers with a HDCP index of 5 or less who engaged regularly in strength and fitness routines. All golfers had two test days: one with active dynamic (AD) warmup, a second with AD followed by static stretches (SS). The results were then compared, within golfers and across golfers. For performance testing after the warmups, golfers hit three driver shots at time 0, 15, 30 and 45 minutes after the warmup. The study shows that static stretch formats produced poorer performance outcomes in the four measures shown in Table 5, which shows Time Zero results. The performance deficits under the PSS protocol decreased over time. Some suggestions on why the passive protocol was tied to lower performance than the active protocol: The passive stretches routine induced excessive range of motion,  basically producing wobbles in the golf swing. Other research indicates that the stretching produced slack in the tendons, lessening the amount of muscle force that could be transferred into the shot. One caveat: The study had good scientific controls and balancing of treatments (test routines). This was, however, an exploratory study and raises as many questions as it answers. Also, although the study was done back in 2010, it is still cited as a primary work in recent reviews. A quick online search did not reveal any follow-ups on the study. For those interested, the study PDF is below. PassiveStretchGOLF.pdf
    • I have trouble with vertigo on occasion, but have gotten nutritional and biofeedback tips to keep it at bay. Dehydration can help trigger v-like symptoms so one recommendation, along with maintaining overall hydration, is to start with 8 oz. of water early in the morning. A meta-analysis on Golf As Physical Activity indicated that golf is rated as a moderately intensive physical activity. This scientific literature review came from the University of Edinburgh. The physical activity level ties into hydration. A former university colleague was a marathon runner who had published a couple of articles on endurance training. He likewise said that golf was a moderate physical activity especially when the round stretched past  the two-hour mark. For hydration he recommended switching from water to electrolyte drink on the back nine (past two hour point of exercise) to prevent cramping. At the two-hour point of moderate activity, water starts flushing electrolytes out of the body, which can lead to fatigue and cramping. (I have had trouble with leg cramps in the past during exertion.) During a round, I start out with water on the front nine and switch to sports drink on the back nine. If the day is unusually hot, I may drink 8 oz. of Pedialite concentrate before going to the course. Maintaining overall hydration plus on-course boosters keeps me going.
    • Personally I’d try booking direct first - either via the Vidanta golf reservations number/email or through the resort concierge - especially for Christmas/New Year. Vidanta’s main courses (Greg Norman and Nicklaus designs) are popular and can book out fast this time of year, so direct often gives you the best shot at your preferred tee times.
