I've got the watch, since I'm left handed in everything except golf I wear watches on my right hand. From Shot Scope the suggestion was to wear it on my right hand but tell the unit that I'm a left handed golfer so it could try and pick up the tags better. I was already used to tagging when I had Game Golf and manually selecting on my Samsung watch with a prior app, so I just tap the sensor to the watch band before each shot and haven't had a single issue of it double counting or anything so far through 45 holes.

I have one still sitting in a box my son gave me for Christmas. 
For a while, I used an app on my watch, but it drained the phone battery .

We have Markers at 180 ,135 and 90M , and generally I am close enough to one of them to get a fairly rough indication of how far. 
Also, for a while now ,I walk into town and back at weekends, approximately 5 mile round-trip .

I’ll start a walk on my watch, and on the way home when the watch ticks over to .10/.90 etc I’ll pick a street light ,lamp post , sign , and guess how far, normally anything up to about 100 m, I have now got very good at estimating distances, especially up to 50 or 60M.

Depends on your definition of range finder.  There was a time I used my phone with a GPS/golf app and checked distances but wasn't really bothered enough whether it was 78 or 80 or 82.  I just thought approximately 80 yards and hit.  I essentially use the distance markers on the course to gauge distance and play and if that is considered a range finder then every time.  If not, virtually never

I remember those days......seems so long ago, when times were more simple, and life moved slower.😃

Why you young whipper-snapper you!😋

To OP, I have no routine, I eye-ball up to half wedge (40-60 yards) most days. Only time I am somewhat deliberate in checking is distances to clear hazards.

The very first round I had a laser rangefinder we came to this hole near the street. The house across the street had a full sized plastic horse in their yard. Yes, full sized. So I lasered it. 90 yards. That became our group joke for a while.

How many times has that horse been molested by drunken teenagers? 

How many pictures, clean or dirty, have been taken with said horse?

How many times has someone tried to hit it with a golf ball?

How many times has someone tried to steal it?

How many times have the owners called the cops on any of the above mentioned items?

How many of the above mentioned items have you been directly involved in?

I use GPS;  it may not be as accurate, but neither am I.

Typically less than 50. I find this can be affected by the "CART" signs on a given course. I don't like taking my rangefinder out of the cart and carrying it around to the green. I am very fearful I will leave it somewhere.

Why?  You would never be waiting on me.  I am one of the fastest players you will ever run into on the golf course.  I am extremely fit and almost always the first to the green and the first to the next tee box.  When I play with my 16 year old step son who is a 3 handicap, he tells me to slow down.  Also,  what does it take me?  40 seconds round trip to walk off 30 yards?  (which is the max I walk off)  I like to have a look at the break around the hole which helps me to hole out chips which I did for birdie from 27 yards just the other day.  I also do this while waiting on my playing partners to catch up to me so you need not worry about being irritated, I can pretty much guarantee you that you could not keep up with me on the golf course.  🙂

I just got my shotscope v5 watch and used it yesterday. Its fairly accurate at the course I was playing so I did not use my rangefinder at all. I was able to calculate what club i needed from that.

      Exactly correct.   I was absolutely certain about the penalty (none here), but the bit about where they play from can be really confusing the first time you read it.  In my big paper rule book, i used colored highlighters to make it clear.  Good thing I did, at the Cascades there's little to no cell service, so using the rules app on the phone wasnn't possible.

This is true even if the ball hits the player, the opponent or any other player or any of their caddies or equipment. Reading further down it looks like they have to play the ball as it lies. No replay from the previous spot.

      I had an interesting one yesterday, a local qualifier for the US Senior Open, at the Cascades Course at the Homestead.  Well, first things first, the VSGA arrnged for the officials to play the Cascades on Monday at the players' practice round rate.  Its lots of fun, rather old-style (built in the 1920s).  anyway, a player missed a short putt, and (apparently embarrassed) took a step to be ready to tap the ball back in.  The ball lipped out, and hit the player's foot.  I was nearby, and they waved me over, and asked "What do we do now?"  I was pretty sure of the ruling, but asked them to wait for a few seconds while i double-checked.  I did have it correct, even though its one of the more confusing rules in the book right now.  I'll leave the correct answer out for now, in case anyone wants to guess, or research it, and post their ruling.

      I am going to try to try to have more intent with my shot routines. I saw this process in a YouTube video I watched last night.  Decide what you want to happen - Yardage, shot shape, start line Visualize what you want to happen - Straight forward, but one tip he suggested was while focusing the shot take in a slow deep breath (like 4 seconds in duration), hold for 1 second, then exhale slowly (like 4 seconds again). There is some evidence to show that this rhythmic style of breathing can help in calming heart rate and improving focus.  Feel what you want to happen. - Your 1-2 practice swings. Like if you need to hit your PW at 90%, feeling that.  Commit to what you want to happen on the ball.  Post-shot routine, where you either gain confidence from a good shot or learn from a mistake to foster a growth mentality. - If it was a good shot then give yourself some good vibes/feedback. If the shot didn't turn out, then access why to learn from it. I am going to add, don't get negative.

      I mean, if you like GZ, and would drink it more often during a round than water, then keep drinking that. If you walk 18 holes, on a hot summer day, and drink 2 20-oz waters or 4 20-oz GZ. You will benefit more from the 4 20-oz GZ because it's like 99.99% water, lol. Yea, if flavored water makes you drink more water, then that works better.  I would just monitor the salt intake relative to your own health. I am sure some people might have to be careful. GZ is 280 mg salt. So, 4 of those is over 1000 mg. It is over 4 hours. That is like half the daily recommended intake of salt. You are probably losing some of your salt reserves playing golf. Long winded way of saying, it depends on the person.
