How many have you played? I'll count up my number sometime here soon (I don't know that it'll get to double digits).

I was fully expecting the answer to be zero but apparently I’ve played one, Royal New Kent #2. I did not think it was a good hole.

I might make a trip out to Bethpage Black this year and that will check off a couple more, but not certain it will happen.

I think I got to 10, mostly because I played Pebble Beach this year.

1 for me, 18th at Harbour Town.

Kinda surprised nothing from Wolf's Creek was on there but maybe they're not great golf holes architecturally, just visually stunning holes.

I have played two. I believe Southern Pines #9 should be on the list.

I have a total of 13, all from playing Oakmont (3), Pebble Beach (6), Pete Dye GC (2), Spyglass Hill (1), and Royal New Kent (1).

I have plans to play the Ocean Course (Kiawah) and Pikewood National (Morgantown, WV) this summer, so that will add 6 (!) more.

The only "surprises" for me, in terms of courses I've played, were #17 at Fox Chapel and #18 from Laurel Valley not making the list.

Ummm., yeah.  I read the entire list and didn't even realize I'd played there until I read your post...so that's saying something.

I remember the hole but I didn't even remember how I played it until I looked it up on Game Golf. We needed to hit it much farther left off the tee than it looked. I think @iacas pulled his drive and ended up being the only one in the group that hit the fairway. I hit my drive in the junk, played it further into the junk, played the third just out of the junk, then pitched it just off the back of the green and two putt for 6. I was never in the fairway the entire hole, and thinking about it now, I don't think I would have scored better if I played the hole "the right way."

The junk must have been decent enough to play from because it doesn't appear that I made any attempt to simply hit back out onto the fairway sideways or something. I don't see that as much of a test of risk vs reward. And the tee shot is only going to fool you once. It did look pretty cool, as many of the holes at RNK did.

    • Day 126: another busy day, so just did some mirror work. Checking set up and backswing and working on a few downswing feels.
    • Day 310 - Working on my follow-through. Higher chest, belt towards the target. Small swings at first, building to a fuller swing (still not thrilled with my short backswing).
    • Day 201 (19 Nov 24) - Walked the back nine at Minnesott today, played the “white” tees with the persimmon woods and bladed irons.  It’s a challenge I really like as the clubs are shorter in overall distances.  It really forces me focus on the value of the approach game.     Somehow yesterday’s post did not load / so it’s above.  Today (Day 202) I did some backyard short yardage work - 7i dink  and rolls, 9i chips and 50deg pitches - working to get it in before the rain started around noon.
    • Day 51 - 2024-11-20 Played nine holes of Sanctuary Moon with a 6I while pausing in the backswing and otherwise just practicing. If you're into Star Wars, or don't actively hate it… this is worth checking out.
