I found this session irritating but I wasn’t sure if it was just me being in a bad mood. Bryson isn’t a good commentator and honestly I don’t find the Smylie Kaufman broadcast moments interesting in the slightest at any tournament.

Looks like Cantlay's short game betrayed him today. He was +3.9 yesterday, and now he's -1.9 today!

I mean… the regular announcers need a bit of a break, and Bryson's a lot more tolerable these days.

LIV may have been good for him. He's not in our faces as much, he can edit his YouTube videos, and he's getting a LOT of cheering around the golf course. People are on his side more now than ever.

Part of my point is they weren’t showing golf on the course. Instead, they were showing past clips of his antics. I want to see the current competition. They seem to think we don’t want to watch the actual tournament.

I might actually like the guy now if he wasn’t getting paid with blood money. His YouTube videos are entertaining, at least the few that I’ve actually watched, and he did yell at a guy for trying to steal a golf ball he was giving to a kid.

He’s become my favorite LIV golfer, though I suppose is about the same as having a favorite cow plop in a field.

They showed a bit but they also showed golf shots at the U.S. Open and got Bryson’s commentary on them.

Worst coverage of any previous US Open tournament by NBC. Incomplete first round and now, cutting out before all players have finished. Should have had USA Network on in the mornings and then NBC pick up in the afternoons. Another network needs to cover this tournament.

Also, only got to see Rory play about 27 holes over these two days.

Wasted time with Bryson. Not a fan.

Will watch only after the leaders tee off tomorrow and Sunday.

The interview with Straka right after was just as bad, choppy and coarse. Smylie just isn’t an engaging interviewer.

They can’t pick players to highlight based on who’s a fan in here. I didn’t see that part, but it can’t have been that long?

Bryson is fine, except for the LIV part. He’s more entertaining than many others and having some LIV representatives up there stirs the pot a little.

It's a freaking frictionless course. This is akin to playing with rock flites. These greens have to effectively play the smallest in all of golf. I know they all want to play middle of the green but then putting away from middle after is no picnic.

There was a discussion earlier where they said the projected score for a 5 handicap is 84. I would put my house on the over.

Pinehurst #2 is actually pretty playable for the average golfer because… the average golfer misses short a lot, and short misses aren't punished much at Pinehurst.

Looking at the aerial, there is very few holes were short is bad. You can always putt from off the green, so it makes the short game easier. I can see where the big number is out more often. It's not really a course where you can easily go low at either. The sand down there is super easy to play out of.

Yeah, watched Geoff Ogilvy's bit on Fried Egg about his conversation with some bogey golfer finding #2 most fun to play and the irony in it being so.

Looks alot  like those  "native areas" a few  years  back that were supposed to be tough but ended  up being  just another fairway shot  unless you were  very  unlucky and  got right  behind a tuft  of  grass. I  predict  -15 for the win. Someone will be  -8 at the end  of the day tomorrow.

Cool. Here's the deal we'll make you. If you're right, we'll remove your restrictions. If you're wrong, you'll never again be permitted to whine about how "easy" a golf course played (particularly given that you wouldn't likely break 90 at it), and if you do, you're gone forever.

I definitely have a better outlook on BD after watching his YouTube channel and his appearances on Grant Horvath’s channel. He’s an odd character but he loves the game and is considerably more entertaining than Scheffler and many other PGAT players. I do however continue to see Koepka as a total douche.

I’m pulling for Rory but won’t be disappointed if BD wins. It’s just a damn shame he’s with LIV.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
