If you took your best score on each individual hole on your course, what would be your best ball score be? Say, over the last year, you have birdied 10 out of 18 holes and pared the rest. Your score would be 10 under. A few years ago, the course I belonged to kept track and gave a printout at the end of the year. At the time, it was in the mid to low 50's. I think over the year, I ended up having a birdie on all the holes, or all the holes but one.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

That's called a "ringer" score. I don't keep it on a yearly basis, but I know my lifetime ringer score for my home course. My lifetime ringer on my home course is 47 (25 under par). I've birdied every hole more than once, but I've also eagled all 4 of the par 5's, one par 4, and 2 par 3's.

I have to confess that I've been playing the course at my current level (10-12 handicap) for 20 years, so just by longevity most of those scores would have been inevitable. The 2 aces and the eagle on a par 4 (holed from 110 yards) were dumb luck.

Just one eagle this year.... quite a few birdies, but I didn't keep track so I can't say for sure what the final tally would be. I've probably birdied every hole, but I can't provide evidence to that. If I did, then I'm at 53. I've played well over 100 rounds, and I can tally up at least 14 holes where I've made birdies to go with the one eagle.

Edit: Just went through the course in my mind... there are only 2 holes where I can't remember making a birdie this year, so I'm going to say that my ringer is -17.... 55. That's 15 birdies and one eagle (the hole that I eagled was also a birdie hole, so it can't count twice). That is unofficial though..

A 14 under par 57 would be my score might be lower but I only counted the holes I birded for sure. Might be a couple I missed.

That's pretty strong.....no wonder you're playing off of +3!

I've never tried to track it, but I'd guess somewhere in the upper 50's. There are a couple of holes on most of the courses I play that I'm sure I don't birdie in a year. Throw in the handful of eagles and it feels like 14 under or so.....call it 58ish.

Sounds like a fun thing to do though. Maybe I'll keep track this next year.....hell, I'll keep track for my group and we can all throw a couple of bucks in the pot.

Thanks for the idea!

75

I've birdied 2 of the holes and there are several I've never made par on.

But I'm a 30, so I can't really expect much else.

Despite that aweful shot I just hit, I'm really quite bad at this.

I think I"ll make a point of keeping track next year myself... be interesting to know for sure. I'll keep a card at the house and only enter scores of birdie or better.... then a year from now I'll total it up.

This year on my home course my personal best score for each hole would card ...
-10 the front, - 9 on the back (no eagles on the back). -19 would be a 53.

I consider, in my mind at least, Woodley Lakes to be my home course, even though I have started lately to play more often elsewhere. I'll decide soon on my home course for 2009 and keep score for the year.

As for the two years I've been playing, I've parred every hole at Woodley Lakes at least once. I've also birdied 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, and 12 for a 66. Yet my best individual day score was an 85.

I know my all time best ball at the course I play now because I have kept a mental note which holes I have had an eagle. The course is a par 70 with three par 5's and 5 par 3's. All time best ball is 40. I have eagled all but 6 holes, three of which are par three's.

This year, my best ball would be 47. The par 5's I can got on, or real close, and I had a couple of hole outs from the fairway from around 100. The rest are birdies.

There are a few guys I play with every weekend. I think we are going to play a four round personal best ball tournament... with carryover skins. This will get interesting.

Now that's a fascinating idea... I'm going to suggest something like that to the tournament committee for my Men's club.

My home course: Par 71

I have birdied every hole with eagles on holes 1, 3, 4, 5, 9 putting me at 23 under

All time best ball is 48!

This season's is 51.

I don't know about this year, but my personal best holes at my home course would give me a 17 under 53. I've never had an eagle and there is this one hole (400 yard dogleg right par 4 - #1 handicap on the card) I just cannot birdie to save my life. I've even stiffed it to 4 feet once and wussied the hard right to left breaker. I was so afraid of putting through the break I let it trickle left....

Mine would be -16. Have birdied all but 2 holes, no eagles. Makes for a 56. Not bad for my first full year of golf...

Mine would be a 50. I'm sure I have birdied each hole over the past year and I have made eagle on each of the 2 par 5s at least once in the past year as well. Course is a par 70. I play 40+ rounds a year.

My home course is a 9 holer, and 23 would be my score. I've eagled both par 5s and two par 4s (one is drivable and I holed one out from 120 on the other).
This is more of a numbers game than anything; I play a good 200 9 hole rounds a year.

Cleveland Hi-bore 9.5* stiff, Taylormade Burner T3 14.5* stiff, Mizuno mp 32 3-PW, Nike SV Tour Black Satin 52, 56, 60* wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 35 inches
In the market for a new driver, then my bag will be the shiz.

Of the 12 rounds I've played this summer at one course a rather pathetic one under 70! That does include me coming back from having not hit a golf club in 3yrs...I don't get many birdies but get quite a lot of pars.

At the course where I'd been a member for 4yrs I'd birdied all but one hole in my time there. No eagles.
