Well kudos on only having one three putt with your PW!! I know if it was me, I would have had many more than that...

Seems like a fun exercise to do sometime to test your ability to get creative with shots.

I'd go with a 3 wood, 9 iron and a putter. But that's just me!! Clubs that I'm most comfortable with.

The notion of not bringing a putter to a 3 club tourney seems completely ridiculous to me.

I'd personally carry a 4 iron, a sand wedge and a putter and believe I'd shoot about the same as I always do.

I can see where some think that and to each their own. It's kind of a darned if you do, darned if you don't situation when you're allowed only three clubs. If I take a 4, SW, and putter then I've got a HUGE distance gap there between my 4 iron and wedge. How would you handle that? Punching a 4 iron all day from anywhere from 110 - 180 yards really isn't something I'd guess many will be good at. Putting with a wedge really isn't that much different than with your putter. You're not going to be quite as good, but as I proved by taking 17 putts, it's not that bad. I've had many rounds with a putter where I've taken 17 putts before for nine holes. The par threes would really kill you with that distance gap too unless the par threes you're playing allow you to use a 4 iron.

I would have to use Driver, 7 and 54 degree SW. The driver is the best club in my bag, and honestly, I could probably putt just as well with any other club. My putting is no good at all.

This weekend I am playing in a 3 club, (putter is included as 1 club) 2 man scramble tournament. I'm really looking forward too it, should pose a lot of strategic shots. What clubs would you guys take along? I'm thinking my 4 iron which I hit 225ish off the tee, a PW for approach and chip shots, and putter. The course plays pretty short and is wide open with very little OB or hazards. also, you can only use your clubs so whatever your partner brings is off limits

5i, 50*, putter. They're the clubs I would feel most confident with in their respective "class", ie driving/moving up fairways, and approaches/short game.

...though I could be tempted by my 4 hybrid, I probably play better bump and runs with it than any of my irons, heh.

Take a look at the score card to see the lengths of each hole and work it out from there.

Without knowing yardage, I would take 5H, 9i, and putter from my bag. I can stretch a 9 for extra yards, pitch, and chip with it. 5H is a reliable and accurate 200 for me. Sounds like fun!

Whoever the 2 is a better driver should go Driver-8i/pw-Putter

and the other should go like 5i-GW/SW-Putter

That way you can cover many different distances/lies. I would bring driver-8i-putter because I really like chipping with an 8i for some reason lol.

Id prob take 4H, 8i, putter. I can hit my 4 hybrid up to about 190 yards on a full swing but can choke down and hit it 150 on a 3/4 swing. Anything inside 150 I would use the 8 iron and for pitching and chipping and of course a putter for putting. I once thought of doing this on a course around here that i just played yesterday, its a very short course so I could reach any of the par 4's with 4H and 8 iron(no par 5's) and I use 8 iron on one of the par 3's and the other one is very short so it would just be a little punch shot with an 8 iron.

My opinion, hybrid / 6 or 7 iron / pitching wedge.

depending on the course assuming you know it well i could argue, driver, 7, wedge or something like that as well.

Alot depends on the course and what tees you'll play from (lenth of holes). In general, I would probably pick a Hybrid (tee-shots, bump-n-run around the greens, and putting), 6-iron (played full for 175yd shots or punch type shots for 150yd and down), and a wedge (probably a 52* for 100 yds and in and chip shots).

In my :nike:  bag on my :clicgear: cart ...

If I had to do this on my home course, it would be a 4-wood, 7-iron, and high-bounce pitching wedge (although I'd be playing away from the sand).
