Anyone check out the new irons on Mizuno's website? Wow!!!! The two new MPs are gorgeous. And the two new GI's, "JPX" models, are cool looking too. The JPX-800 has a running shoe look to it. Sounds crazy, but when you see them, you'll get my drift.

not bad....i still like some of the older modeals personally: like the MP 32,33,30 and last years 58 and 68's

Not too crazy about the JPX-800 irons.
The colorful cavities make them look something like... Cobra GI irons or Callaways.
Not that it's a bad thing, but I think most Mizuno fans loved the simple, clean look of their lineups.
Looks like the JPX-800 pro irons have the profile of the old MX-200.

I actually like the MP-53 irons, and seems pretty forgiving for a MP series.
Might give them a try once they arrive in the local golf shop.

I find it a little weird that they added a JPX line. I kind of liked the symmetry of the MP and MX series.

Yeah, I wonder how many focus groups went into that.

I hope this site does a review of any of these new MP irons.

I posted my review of hitting the new MP63 and 53 in a different thread.

I am disappointed that Mizuno went to 46° PW in both MP sets. The JPX-300 has a 44° PW and the Pro line has a 45°. And just 3 years ago, Mizuno had some of the most traditional lofts, including the 48° PW in their MP-67s!

If anything, I love the MP-57s. I wish they would bring that beauty back.

I believe you can still order the MP-57s. They're listed in a brochure I have (from February) as "signature series" along with the MP-32 or MP-33s (I forget which).

That'll probably end though. The new "Signature Series" are the MP 52 and 62. I agree with the loft thing though. I like my 47* PW, and would actually prefer a 48*. Of they keep going lower I'll be in a weird situation.

I guess we'll hear endless marketing chatter about how these clubs are ten yards longer than anything else they've ever produced!

Yep check out the jpx 800 pro with Luke Donald on youtube. I believe it was about 9 yds longer than the irons he uses now, though those are MP models and more than likely 3* weaker.

The JPX series was an asian only brand, check em out on Ebay the prices are crazy expensive. Those shafts must be sweet to charge that much for a set.

I love the look of the JPX 800 Pro. Can't imagine ditching my MX 100s, but if I did I would take a real hard look at the JPX's.

Is it crazy to buy a set of MP-57 now for use when I tire of my Callaways? I'd hate to lose the opportunity to get a set of those but my Callaways are just fine at the moment.

    • Day 297 6-28 Got some swings in early this morning, busy day. Worked on low point control, skills work.
    • Day 2: played 18. Driving was decent to good. Approach play was meh. Short game meh, and putting solid. Added up to an 81. Needed more tap in pars and more birdie chances.
    • Day 8 (28 Jun 26) - Worked with face position at address and overall setup - open/neutral/closed - and setting up for resulting shot shapes - using 8i and hard foam balls.  It was abbreviated as the thunder began to rumble. Got in about 20 swings before calling it.
    • Tale of two swings.  Swing 1: Slightly outside takeaway (hands move outside of target line) only to allow trail elbow over collapsing at P4. Doesn't take much to overdo it for the trail elbow collapse to only further exaggerate. That's death. Swing 2: Hands stay slight in at takeaway for a much better trail elbow condition at P4. This is a hard sell from an instinct perspective. More focus on un-weighting and re-weighting of lead foot to unlock a bit more mobility of hips and torso. A major flaw that creeps up often is me swinging flat footed and becoming overly armsy-collapsy as a result. Got reminded of this the hard way during my 2nd round match for club net championship. Was cruising along 2up until I made the turn. Then lost the swing for next five holes. Andy was playing good enough to capitalize. By the time I regained my swing on 16th, it was too late. Even Andy was like "That was a gift". Obviously that stings because have played well enough lately. Should have closed him out of the game comfortably with a few holes to spare. Shoulda woulda coulda. Tough lesson. Damn. P.S. I know the swings look very similar but trust me there is a difference.
