I shot 69 at Arroyo Del Oso my senior year of high school and won. That f**ing ruled, man

I can still remember how it played out, even though it was in 1996.

1st hole (par 5) - hit on in 3 and 3-putted, bogey.
2nd hole (par 4) - driver, wedge to 10 ft, birdie
3rd hole (par 4) cock-blocked my drive into a pond, dropped, hit my third onto the fringe, chipped in for par.
4th hole (par 3) - par
5th hole (par 5) - hit over the green in two, got up and down for birdie
6th hole (short par 4) - almost drove the green, birdie
7th hole (downhill par 4) - hit one in the desert, 2nd shot to 5 ft, made a downhiller for birdie
8th hole (LONG par 4) - driver, mid-iron, up and down for par
9th hole (par 3) - I think I hit my tee shot short and made bogey - 34 on the front

10th hole (par 4) - hit a cruise missile on the front fringe - birdie
11th hole (par 5) - par
12th hole (par 3) - hit a pansy-ass 5-iron short, couldn't get up and down, bogey
13th hole (par 4) - driver, wedge to 15 ft, birdie
14th hole (par 4) - par
15th hole (par 5) - driver, 4-iron to 20 ft, eagle putt hit a f***ing spike mark and came up short, tap-in birdie
16th hole (par 3) - 7-iron to the wrong side of the green, made a 50ft birdie putt - did a Beavis and Butt-head headbanging impersonation with my putter as the guitar!
17th hole (par 4) - par
18th hole (par 4) - hit a slapdick drive into the shit, hit my 2nd short, chunked my 3rd, ran my 4th 10 ft past, missed the putt, double.

35 on the back - 69, 1st place by two shots. Got my name in the paper and everything.

I could have shot 64 or 65 that day, no shit.

Shot a 72 on a par 72 6400 yarder in 1998 before a back injury. My putter and wedges were on FIRE that day.

When I used to go mid to low 70s it was always the putter and the wedge that made the difference. 12 years later following 1 back injury/toddlers/marriage/career I am slowly finding my game again. I almost want to stay an 8-9 capper when I get there...so much less pressure on myself

Had my best round yet today. 78 (+6) with 13 pars, 4 bogies and one double. First time I ever broke 80 and I won't forget it in a hurry because it just happens to also be my birthday.

Odd thing is the course just reopened after hollowtining and the heavily sanded greens were a bit like putting on a bumpy, wet beach. I just concentrated on making a good solid stroke on a relatively straight line and only took 30 putts in total.

Funny old game!

Stretch.

thanks!

long time coming, but now that i have felt the under par, i know how to handle the situation i had 4 birides in a row yesterday i couldnt miss almost holed out on 14, which is a 133yd par 3 hit PW and it landed 2" from the hole and stopped around 12" from the pitch mark (LOVE the TM LDP black's ! hahah) good thing the greenskeepr was watching too, incase i needed a witness EDIT # 2: was looking at the score again....i totally added up the score wrong (forgot to circle a birdie on 16) actul score is 66...not 67!!! sweet! (never was good at math!! haha)

Back in July, I shot an 82 on a par 70 course. I had two birdies in a row (first time ever), three birdies on the front nine (first time ever) and four birdies total (first time ever) for the round. My only double bogey on the front nine was on the first hole, and I shot two over. The last five holes killed my bid for another first (a round in the 70s) as I went double, double, triple, par, double to finish the round. But, I was only three over after thirteen, so now I know I can do it... it's just a matter of holding things together. If I just managed five bogeys over those last five holes, I would have shot a 78.

I started to clench today coming into the 15th at 4 over. It's the stroke one hole on the course and I went with the conservative strategy of driver, 5 iron, pitch instead of hitting a fairway wood to a green with water on the left and bunkers right. But just wasn't aggressive enough on the pitch and left a 50ft downhill putt, which I three-jacked for the only double of the round. Usually things would go pear shaped from there, but today I got up and down for par on both the 16th and 17th and then lipped out a long birdie putt on the 18th. Nice to find out you actually can finish strong occasionally!

Ironically (or perhaps because I dont typically warm up before playing in the morning), I always finish strong. In my career low round of 78, I played the final 4 holes in -1. Just wish the course I've been playing had a driving range... :(

That was my best round ever..... kind of sad and its only because I hit all my drives like money that day.

74 (41/33) is my best ever by 7 strokes! Did that a month or two ago, only had one round since then, a more standard 84 (on a harder course). Lots of range time though and I finally got a tripod and have been recording my own swing which has been VERY revealing (and a bit depressing)...

I also recorded my best round yet this year, i played 81 at a local club in Norway. My best in the US on the other hand is 83, that was at Moorpark Golf & CC last year..

My average is around 90..

My best round is in my sig. 6 bogeys and a birdie. Its not my lowest dif tho. I have had some lower differentials, but on a harder course so the score was not lower.

-3 two years ago and even last year at two different courses. I feel that I can shoot under par again but I need to improve the short game.

My best round was a 70 but my career round would have to be shooting a 4 over 40 on the front nine of my high school golf tryouts and then birdieing 4 of my last 6 holes to shoot a 32 on the back for a 72

    • Option #2 because I'd add the condition that it's in a tournament. Because that'd mean I'd break par in a tournament. And I already have a hole in one.
    • Hole in one is nice, but those low rounds stick in my memory better. I have two holes in one (and a third on a pitch and putt course which I count as a half). I've shot in the 60s three times in the last 10 years or so and I remember each one pretty well. I'd take the low round.
    • Would You Rather #68: Would you rather make a hole-in-one on a perfectly struck shot, during a round where you otherwise played pretty poorly.  or  Would you rather play well all day and beat your personal best by let's say 3 strokes, but with no eagles.    I'd take option 2.   Although option 1 is always exciting, and rewarding. playing well all day is very exciting because I can also do the opposite.
    • I've got two of them.  So for me it depends. If I'm playing with friends and they know me. I'm taking the hole-in-one. Because they know my game anyway. Let's go for the awesome moment/bragging rights.  If I'm in a tournament I'm taking the low round, because I want to win.  If I'm playing with a bunch of strangers, and I just show up, and get paired up. I'm leaning toward taking the low round. I could leave them thinking I'm better than I am. Plus for me that would be a 73. ... That would be cool.
    • Hole in one is a lifetime achievement, so that.
