One holiday tradition I've never been very fond of is eggnog. Even though I've drunk it during many a Christmas celebration, I can't say I like it. I once thought that it would be a better drink with alcohol added as intended, but I added a shot of bourbon to a cup of eggnog the other day and decided the end result was worse with the spirit included. Is there something I'm missing?

Homemade eggnogg is awful. The commercial version (very rich and thicker than bitumen) is good with rum. I like Appleton estate in my eggnogg. Nothing like a 2000 calorie beverage to warm the cockels of your heart.

Captain Morgan Spiced is my choice for sure

plain..never man i didnt realize how many calories were in eggnog either, its like a days worth of food almost! hahah! and then to add booze to it?? man u might as well eat KFC my cousin makes a "nogalizer" its basically a paralizer but instead of milk, add eggnog its actually really good - coke/pepsi, nog and spiced rum.....now that's good sh*t merokee!

We had a big lebowski/white russian drinking event a few years back. The rules were simple, when the dude says 'dude' you take a sip of your white russian. Suffice to say, I still cannot drink thick, sweet alcoholic beverages.

Haven't tried eggnog & rum, but the thought makes my stomach turn.

I actually had never had eggnog until this year...weird, I know.  My boyfriend loves it so I guess I'll be drinking a lot more of it this season.

Love eggnog. No booze added. Just straight up. I had one carton this year to myself over a period of two days and I think that's all I'll be needing this winter. Fun while it lasted.

I'm generally not a fan of extremely rich drinks, but some annual eggnog is my exception. This year I took to drinking one glass a night as I read in bed before going to sleep. Living with my wife has made me much more calorie conscious than I was before marriage. 650 calories in a tall glass of eggnog. That's between 1/4 and 1/3 of my recommended total daily intake. No wonder there are so many weight loss resolutions going into the new year.

i have a white russian every now and a again, but never drink more than one or two. i tell the bartender to do half kahlua, half baileys, though, which makes it thicker/sweeter.

it's very sweet.

It's not something you would like to have every day.

That's why it's become just a holiday tradition.

I can take it or leave it with or without alcohol.

... with brandy. One glass right before bed on Christmas Eve, Used to be after playing Santa with the wife (insert your joke here). Kids are now grown so there are no cookies for Santa (insert second joke here). We still sit by the tree and have that one glass after midnight church services.

1 part eggnog to 5 parts milk and I will drink it.

Otherwise it's too rich for my liking.

I would rather a rum and coke than a rum and eggnog too
